After we discovered the damage our ventless gas logs had done to our walls, ceilings, and woodwork, we called in the pros to repaint the great room. It was such a treat for me to have someone else on a ladder painting that ceiling and the walls that are 10 feet tall. I have never painted a ceiling, and I don’t plan to start now. And by the way, if you haven’t read our recent post on fireplace logs maintenance, do yourselves a favor and read it today – that is if you have ventfree or ventless gas logs.
The color that was in the great room was stucco by Sherwin Williams.
I love the color but wanted it lightened a little bit, so, they halved the pigment. You can see how much lighter it is here. And do you see those dark smudges? That’s the soot from the gas logs. I know……
The room looks so fresh and bright, that today I am busy painting the kitchen, which opens into the family room. If you follow us on Instagram, then you know that already. The walls are only 9 feet tall, and I am only painting walls. Thank goodness, the soot damage was contained to just the great room, but now that I have started painting, it’s nice to have things freshened up. I painted the mud room yesterday. The crazy thing is that the rooms I really planned to paint this spring were the powder room and the laundry room.
There’s more painting in my immediate future. Jordan gets home from Iceland today, and I’m going to Charlotte at the end of the week to help her paint her kitchen cabinets white. Meanwhile, our son is coming for a short visit, so, I need to get these walls finished. Thanks for stopping in.
Take care.
Take care.

Such a lot of painting! Smoking candles did a lot of damage in our living room years ago…we have a cathedral ceiling. My son, who loves to paint, took care of that part for us! Loving that new color….anxious to see the new room! Happy painting! 😉
