Hi everyone it has been a few months since my last adoption update so I thought I would share the latest. With our last update we mentioned we might be matched with a child in April. Unfortunately, that did not happen. It turns out that due to my Crohn’s disease we needed to get approval from the officials of Thailand before we could officially be matched. So we waited and became a tad nervous.
Finally, one day I happened to be on the road for work when my phone rang. I saw it was our adoption agency, and I took a deep breath. I didn’t know what to expect but the first words I heard were, “Congratulations, you have been approved.” Whew! That was a huge relief, and this is the call we had been waiting for in this process.
Adoption is all about baby steps, and this was a step in the right direction. After some chatting, we were told we would be matched with a child in either July or the next quarter in September. Guarantees cannot be made in this adoption process, but I am hoping it will be July.
If it is not July I know I will be bummed, but I will know it wasn’t meant to be and we will just wait till the next round. I try not to think much about waiting and instead focus on all the fun things in my life – spending time with Yankee, camping, traveling, etc.
So, at this point I guess there’s not much to say, but hopefully, my next update we will be matched with our child and start the bonding process from afar.
When we are matched, we will be allowed to send a photo album of pictures of our family so our little one will become acquainted from afar with its new family. While I was visiting my parents last week-end, I took their photo and finally got them to make a final decision on what they want to be called. Mom is going to be “Coco” just because she thinks it will be easy to say and because she likes the sound of it. It has nothing to do with anything other than she likes it. My dad will be Gramps although he really likes Grandpa.
That’s where we stand right now. We knew it would be a long and slow process, and so we are being very patient with our situation. When we find out more, we will pass it on to you. Thank you all for your support and comments. They mean a lot to us.

Thanks for the update Jordan! Such wonderful news to hear that you both were accepted, and that your health question did not become an issue! Just knowing that your new addition will arrive into your lives at the right time, is a comfort in itself. In situations like this when we know we don’t have control, you can trust that the Lord is and take comfort in that confirmation.
Thank you for bringing us all along on your journey of love!
