People are always asking my mom or me if we really get along. You know……really. I think they are hoping one of us will break down and unload a boat load of moans and groans about the other. The fact is we have a very special mother/daughter relationship, and it’s been that way my whole life. I can’t think of one time that either of us raised our voices against the other, slammed a door in anger, talked back, or made a cutting remark. There wasn’t one moment of drama when I was a teen, when I was engaged and we planned my wedding, or when we traveled together in some pretty tough conditions. The truth is that we are wonderfully boring in the best kind of way.
With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I want to honor my mom with a gift that she deserves, will appreciate, and will use. I like to think personal gifts are the best. In my school age years I remember making a recipe holder for my mom that consisted of the lid of an aerosol can filled with cement and a plastic fork stuck in the cement. Voila! Mom had a recipe holder that she used for years. In fact, she might still have it.
Now that I am a little older I know my mom loves to be pampered. We share a spa day together each year to celebrate our birthdays. Since we can’t be together for Mother’s Day this year, I think a spa basket would be a perfect gift for her. My mom works out and rides her bicycle regularly, and her feet show the wear and tear.
My mom loves pedicures, and she makes them part of her regular beauty routine. Knowing that, I decided to focus the spa basket around the Amopé™ Pedi Perfect™ Electronic Foot File and Amopé™ Foot Cream.
I have one of these electronic foot files and love how effortlessly it buffs away the hard skin with a gentle rotating action. It makes my feet feel soft and smooth, so I know it will do the same for Mom’s.
Once I bought the Amopé™ Pedi Perfect™ products at Target for $39.99, I was ready to begin assembling the basket. If you are planning to make your own spa basket, you can find the Amopé™ products in the foot care aisle or on a side cap display. The blue gadget works perfectly for Mom’s spa basket, but they will also have a pink color in a limited edition.
I picked up a couple other things for Mom’s spa basket, went home, and got to work.
I started with a plain basket. I wanted to do a little something special to it, and I knew paint would make it look better.
First, I taped off the area I wanted to paint.
I started painting, and I was shocked how quickly this step went. I just used stencil paint because it is a little thicker and covers faster.
I debated about adding more paint but decided that in this case, less is more. The gifts will add the color.
I was really happy with how it turned out, and I know this will work well as a spa basket in Mom’s bathroom.
Since the star of the spa basket is the Amopé™ Pedi Perfect™ Electronic Foot File. Amopé™ Foot Cream, I added a soft towel so she could wrap up and dry her feet after she has her own at-home spa experience. I also put in a candle and chocolates to help her relax even more. Then I topped it off with a fun nail color. My mom has been known to do some wild colors on her toes. I also included a picture from our last spa day to make it even more personal.
Target is having a special on the Amopé™ Pedi Perfect™. This is a Cartweel offer and you can buy one gadget, get a FREE $5 Target Gift Card from May 3 to May 9.
I am so proud of this gift basket and know my mom will L.O.V.E. it. Have you done your Mother’s Day shopping yet?
Cheers!
