I gave you a quick look at our guest room for spring last week when we shared this post. Today, we’re going to zoom in a little bit. These photos came about because I was experimenting with my new camera lens, (Jordan bought the same one, too.) and I just had to share my results.
Let me say this upfront. I never would have put this many patterns and colors together a few years ago. But after seeing and loving all of the mixing up of decor, I embrace the boldness. I was influenced by Kim to pull out our navy gingham pillows that I made last summer and put them on this bed. Since the Euro pillows are navy, and the rugs are navy, the pillows look great. Also, I mentioned in this post that I love old wooden filing cabinets. Take a look at the night stand. It came from an old hardware store, and Pottery Barn sells one that looks almost exactly like it.
Since the walls are now neutral, the room can handle all of this color. I bought this comforter set just to have the color at the foot of the bed and on the shams. It’s the only orange in our house, and I have to say that I kind of like it.
My grandmother’s hat still hangs on the bed post where it will remain. I still have some work to do on honing my photography skills which means you will be getting a new look at our rooms as I work my way around the house.
I have big plans for today. I am about to pull out my paint brush and take myself out of my comfort zone. Tomorrow the “girls” and I are taking an overnight road trip to Asheville to visit the Downton Abbey clothing display at the Biltmore. I will be sure to share.
