When we bought our townhouse, one of the bonus features that it had was a sunroom. When we stopped at our first B an B on our walking tour in the Cotwolds last month, the homeowner served us tea in her sunroom, except she called it her conservatory. That sounds so much fancier, and in fact, her room was fancier than ours.
Here’s a peak of the exterior on her solarium.
She had heat, carpet, draperies, and her glass ceiling had a system of shades to block out the intense summer heat. Ours doesn’t have any of those extras.
To take our sunroom from its summer to fall look just requires me to pull out the plaids.
The wicker sofa is sporting some plaid flannel, and the plaid pillows came from Ikea last year.
Two of the plaid stadium blankets were purchased on trips to Bermuda and Ireland, and the third one was my college stadium blanket.
The only thing I need to add is a rug. We had so much rain this past summer, and some of it came through the screened windows and saturated the rug while we were out of town. When December rolls around, I might add a Christmas touch or two, but this is the way this room will stay till spring. I love anything plaid, and looking through the French doors to this room makes me smile.
