Yankee and I took a quick little trip over the Labor Day weekend to Prince Edward Island. It was a perfect weekend getaway, and we really enjoyed the island. We did all things Anne of Green Gables which you can read about here. I also wanted to show you some other highlights from the trip.
First of all, the island is just beautiful, and the pictures do not do it justice. We stayed in a charming B&B for three nights, and the property and hosts were wonderful.
Janet and Richard have been running this bed and breakfast for 16 years. They said they might be retiring, but we would love to go back before they do. The gardens around the bed and breakfast were beautiful.
The rooms were very comfortable and charming. One room even has a clawfoot tub, but that room was already booked.
The island has a few driving routes, and we got out our map and started driving.
There were lots of lighthouses on the island, but this rustic one was my favorite.
At one point we saw this ferry loading up cars to go over to Nova Scotia. I thought it was so neat to see how the boat opened, and the cars drove right inside.
There were lots of old churches and charming buildings.
This island is filled with seafood, so I was one happy lady. Out in the distance in the water you can barley see the white dots. and they are for the gathering mussels.
Lobsters dinners are a must on the island. The books and our hosts at the B & B said New Glascow is the place to go for the lobster. Along with a lobster you get all you can eat mussels, and clam chowder, plus dessert. I was so full, and it was amazing.
We strolled around Charlottetown, and I loved seeing these colorful picnic tables lined up and painted with a checkers boards. The pieces were right next to the board and ready for anyone to pick them up and start playing.
They had plenty of beaches but after living in Hawaii, I need warmer weather to go in and enjoy. However, we had fun jumping around and taking photos.
I did dip my toes in, and it was chilly.
If you are working on a bucket list, you might want to add PEI. It was a nice pace of life, and the sights are beautiful.

Jordan,
Been reading your blog for several years and was thrilled to see this post on PEI. We live in Nova Scotia and it’s so nice to see folks visiting and saying such great things about this part of Canada. So glad you enjoyed your time on the Island.
