I cooked a special meal for Mr. Right and me last week-end and decided to make the table look special, also. I realized it would soon be time to put away the summer linens and bring out the fall colors so I made an effort to make it look very summery.
Setting a nice table is something I have always done. Even when I worked full-time and had little children, I always used cloth napkins, pretty place mats or tablecloths, and nice dishes.
This setting came together very easily. First off, the yellow dinner plates are Fiestaware, and I used my blue depression salad plates on top.
Instead of using a traditional place mat, I used two dish towels from a set I bought while bicycling in France. They were at one of those little French street markets that I love so much.
These napkins by Pomegranate were the color inspiration. All of the colors that I used are in these lady bug napkins. You can see blue, yellow, red, white, and green.
Both the water glasses and the blue stemless wine glasses came from the Dollar Tree. I love that you can get cute and sturdy glassware there.
I like to have fresh flowers year round and usually get them at the grocery.
When it was time to eat, I lit the candles, and we had a nice romantic dinner. And by the way, our menu was spinach salad, grilled chicken breast with grilled zucchini, and baked sweet potatoes. For dessert, we had grilled peaches in a cinnamon honey sauce.

Beautiful tablescape! Love the colors! Very summer like. I may get my box of fall decor out. It’s 90+ degrees here today…sigh! It doesn’t feel like fall that’s for sure! I’m so ready for cooler weather! I’m a new follower. Great blog!
