We have the perfect holiday dessert for you all today. Last week when I attended a luncheon/fashion show, I showed you a photo of the dessert which was adorable and delicious. It reminded me of chocolate cups that I made for a luncheon chez moi many years ago. At that time, I swore I would never make them again. I think I was reacting to the chocolate on the kitchen ceiling. Anyhow, I made them again today just for you. Well, you don’t actually get to eat the ones I made, but you’ll see how easy it would be to make your own.
This dessert makes a really pretty presentation, so if you need to impress someone, this could be the way to do it.

This is what you do: First, buy some chocolate chips ( I used dark chocolate) and some small balloons. Blow up as many balloons as you will need to make the number of cups you will need. I made just two – one for Mr. Right and one for me. Be sure not to make them too large. Picture the bottom being the size of a bowl. Then spray a cooking spray on the bottom of the balloon to keep the chocolate from sticking.
Next, melt your chocolate either in a double boiler or in the microwave. Be sure to melt it slowly, or it will turn into one solid rock of chocolate. Not good…..
Then gently brush the melted chocolate onto the balloon using a pastry brush.
Put a dollop of chocolate on a plate and place the chocolate bottom of the balloon on it. This will create a little stand for your bowl. Refrigerate until the chocolate is nice and solid.
When the chocolate is ready, pop the balloon. Voila!!! You have a chocolate bowl. (This is my Norman Bates kills a balloon shot).
Now load it up with the ice cream of your choice and any other toppings you crave. I used strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, and a strawberry on top. (It’s Mr. Right’s favorite fruit). Children can do all of these steps with adult supervision. Be careful when applying the chocolate to the balloon. If the balloon is blown up too much, it could pop. That’s how the chocolate ended up on my ceiling the first time I made them.

Totally going to be trying this and LOL about the Norman Bates shot! 🙂
