This morning I realized that our kitchen table needed a new look for summer. I pulled out a combination of items from my stash and went to work play.

I used a terrarium that I bought from Joss and Main a few years ago and turned the base upside down.

I opted to fill it with items that are somewhat feminine.

Mr Right bought the little white opera binoculars in Moscow, and I paired them with a tiny silver teapot that is actually a Christmas tree ornament.

The teacup and saucer came from Mr. Right’s first trip to China. They sit on top of a book from Sweden. It seems as if this vignette is feminine and also international.

I think all centerpieces brighten up with a touch of greenery.

This little 99 cent plant looks a lot more expensive sitting in the mercury glass container that is actually made to be a candle holder.

After everything was assembled the way I liked it, the top went on. It created a whole new dimension to the centerpiece.

If I had not turned the bottom upside down, the items would have been partially hidden. You can see that the top doesn’t fit perfectly this way.

The centerpiece adds a feminine touch of whimsy to our kitchen table, and Lulubelle, the cow, approves.
