A few weeks ago I gave you a look at our foyer with its addition of a vintage Turkish kilim rug and some new pillows.
I mentioned at the time that the area is a dog to photograph, and I am here to repeat that it is a D.O.G. to photograph. No matter if it is a sunny day or a cloudy one, the photos are always wonky. I think a lot of the problem comes from the transom window over the front door. There’s my rant for the day. Let’s get on to the plates.
I used a variety of plates, but all of them are blue. Is there any other color??? Some are very old, and some are bargain finds at T.J. Maxx.
I even hung two that match a soup bowl I have from my grandmother. She died before I was born, and my mom gave one of her bowls to me. I bought some plates and a platter from ebay in the same pattern, Princeton by Johnson Brothers. I really like the design.
The plates play really well with the rug we bought.
They definitely add the finishing touch the area needed, and you can see from this photo that they also play well with the navy wall (Naval by Sherwin Williams – I love that color) in Mr. Right’s office. The office is reflected in the mirror, and you can see it through the French doors.
So, for the time being, this area is finished. Now it’s time to just really enjoy it.
Very pretty and welcoming. The colorful pillows are great with the rug. Blue plates are always a perfect choice.
Looks wonderful, Janette. I love the blue! Our foyer is about the same as yours. Right now, we have a striped floor rug, small half moon table and 2 paintings. Which brings me to a question. I am sure you have mentioned it before, but is there a post showing the small painting to the side of the door?
Also, we are having a new front door installed this spring and I am loving the black you painted yours. It would be a big leap from “Cloud White” for me! Lorraine
Thanks, Lorraine. The door is actually Naval by Sherwin Williams. It is the same color that is on Mr. Right’s walls. I love it. The painting is an oil by local artist Ann Pass. It is a painting of Giverny. It shows up really well now that the door is navy blue.
Your entry looks so beautiful and I LOVE those plates Janette!
Thank you, Vanessa!
