Last year I decided to treat the dining table as if it were a library table. Since it is part of our great room, treating it like a library table most of the time makes more sense to me. We really only eat on it at holidays and special occasions. I have pinned some dream dining tables that would fit into the room so much better than the one we have, but when we purchased it years ago, it was truly an investment purchase. Our tastes just aren’t as formal as they once were.
In my quest to detox from holiday reds and greens, I always turn to blues in January. I have a vintage Hans Brinker and The Silver Skates book, and I made it the star this year.
To accompany Hans, it seemed only fitting to toss an old pair of wooden ice skates into the mix.
I also make it a point to have fresh flowers on the table.
Then everything else is a combination of books, candles, plants, and a plate that I pulled from my stash.

The library table treatment is beautiful. It’s so much more welcoming too than a formally set table. I love your blue vase and flowers.
