DIY Thanksgiving Napkin Rings

By Janette | Projects

Jordan is in the house.  Yep, she arrived yesterday with Gracie, their cute dog, to stay till after  Thanksgiving.  We are on the fourth day of our Thanksgiving week of ideas to share (go here, here, and here for the others), and since we had so much fun making napkin rings for our Trick or Tea, we decided to follow the same method and make some for Thanksgiving.  They are so simple and kid-friendly.  So, while you are cooking up the bird next week, have the kids make these for the table.  It will give them something to do.

The first thing you do is find an empty paper towel or wrapping paper roll.  Next you select the paper that you are going to use.  Wrapping paper, decoupage paper, or scrap book paper would all work.  We used a gold and white decoupage paper.  Cut the paper so that it will fit around the roll.

Then you brush the modge podge onto the roll.  Immediately wrap the paper around it.  Be sure to smooth out any creases and seal the edges with some more modge podge.  Apply another coat of modge podge, and let it dry well.  (If they are being made on Thanksgiving morning, I would skip the extra coat to make sure they dry well.)

Finally, cut the roll into widths of about 1.5 inches.  (If kids are doing this project, you might want to help with the cutting.)  That’s all there is to it.

This little touch will add one more degree of holiday goodness to your table.  Come back tomorrow for an easy, crowd-pleasing recipe.  (Thanks you for the bowls, Phyllis.)

Take care.

What a great idea! This project could be used for so many events. I’m thinking Michele podge maps for celebrating a dream vacation or even a flight to your mothers’-)

What a great way to add bling to your table with the gold paper used over the paper towel roll. This a cute way to include kids in the preparation for Thanksgiving. Have a great week!

The clever napkin rings are a perfect compliment to the Syracuse China bowls! I’m glad you like them.
