When I spent a week in Rotterdam in August after my bike/boat ride, my friend took me to a store called Kook Punt, which translates from Dutch to English to mean Boiling Point. What a treat. It was like a Williams-Sonoma (which is my all-time favorite store) on steroids.
I think that Boiling Point is a great name for a store that is all about cooking and more.
At times I thought I was in a candy store. The store knows how to put displays together, and they were a feast for the eyes. These are storage bins for cakes, bread, cookies, etc. They reminded me of tackle boxes for fishing.
The Kitchenaids were in every possible color.
And more. Do you see a color that matches your kitchen?
They had more than just things for the kitchen.
Yep, there were useful items for (ahem) every room.
Their marketing strategy must work. I wanted to buy one of everything. The nice thing about the store is that they had something in every price range. A shopper could buy a pack of fancy toothpicks or a fancy Wolf stove.
Hmmmm, which cup should I use today???
These colorful cups were so cute. They looked like a crushed plastic cup except they were ceramic. I loved every one of them.
This is a regular sized frig by most European standards, but here it would be great in a rec room kitchenette or a mother-in-law wing. Yes, please.
They had a huge selection of copper……
…..And rooms full of dishes like this stoneware. They had many, many patterns of fine china, too.
One of my favorite areas was the cookbook room which was stacked with the latest. Unfortunately for me, most of them weren’t in English. It was a very calm room with many Oriental rugs, old tables and chairs for sitting and browsing.
I loved the patina of this old table. It is the finish of my dream dining room table.
Before I close, I wanted to share this little treat that Francien and I had before we went to Kook Punt. We rode our bicycles to a river-side cafe, and we each had a delightful little delicacy. She had chocolate mint cheesecake with mint tea. (Excuse the photo quality.)
The cafe uses these sporks, and we weren’t even camping.
I loved the way the tea was served. Each little jar had a different tea with a description of its flavors typed up. They included tea sacs so I could put my flavor choice in a little sac, seal it, and steep it in my hot water. So cute.

I love how European kitchen/ home stores display their items in such wonderful colors.this was especially true in Versailles.
Looks like such an awesome store. i loved the boxes for carrying and storing bread. I think I would have had to come home with one of them!
