Grapes are a fruit I love. As a kid I froze them, and they were a great snack. Even today grapes are a tasty and easy snack for the go.
On our way home from camping in the Adirondacks in the fall, we listened to The Splendid Table on NPR. It has been fun to hear all the recipes Lynn comes up with and even the people she interviews. That day we learned about a new grape that tastes like cotton candy.
Really? I do love cotton candy but now a grape that taste like cotton candy? We were all wanting to find out where we could taste these new cotton candy grapes. Then I asked my friends if they have had Grapples.
A grapple is an apple that tastes like a grape. Mr. Spring and I discovered these when we lived in Hawaii, and I have seen them in some stores recently. They look like an apple, feel like an apple, have the crunch like an apple, but taste like a grape. Well, I would say more like a grape popsicle. They’re really sweet. They were fun to try but not my cup of tea.
It turns out that a few days later my friend sent me an email. Someone brought grapes to work that tasted like cotton candy, and she said they were disgusting.
Well, since you asked…I do not want to eat a grape that tastes like cotton candy. I like ordinary grapes…they have great flavor! I accidentally purchased apple slices, and didn’t check the actual description, and wound up with sweet apple….too sweet for my taste! Personally, a grape should taste like a grape, and an apple, an apple! 😉
I don’t think I would care for grapes that taste like cotton candy. I agree I think apples should taste like apples and grapes like grapes!
Well…I love an apple that tastes like a wonderful apple and a grape that tastes like a grape…love apples and grapes…I am a traditional kind of gal….cute post!!!
