When I converted a changing table into an outdoor bar, I included some cloth napkins that I made. They were super easy, so I thought I would show you so you can get creative and make your own.
I bought this cute summery fabric at Hobby Lobby. I have been impressed with the fun fabric they have had lately. I must do a disclaimer. I am not by any means a seamstress, and this is a quick way without measuring and getting things exactly straight. Feel free to add that step when you make them yourself!
I bought a yard of fabric and made four dinner-size napkins, and I still have enough remaining to make some cocktail napkins. For the first step, I took a cloth napkin I already owned and used it as my pattern. I put it on top of the fabric and cut around it leaving a little more than an inch for the hem.
Instead of pinning everything down, I used some adhesive strips that I had on hand. First, I ironed them onto the fabric.
After it cooled, which did not take long, I removed the paper and then folded down the edge of the fabric and ironed again. This was a very fast process.
This is what it looked like after the edges were all glued down with the adhesive strips. Next up came the sewing.
This step was faster than I thought. Half the battle with me is getting the thread in the right place and getting set up. I used the white thread I had already set up from another project, so it was my foot to the pedal and away I went.
Like I said, do not look at the line that may or may not be straight.

You did a beautiful job with these and I love the fun fabric you used! I love to sew but always have trouble with the napkin corners! Yours look just perfect!

I love your napkins…so cute and so simple. I have some of that same fabric. I was going to make napkins with it, but then I ended up making a table runner with it. I have enough left, I’m about to make some placemats.
Have a great week.
