Please don’t judge me. I did a little enhancement in the kitchen that isn’t cute or pretty at all. You will not read this blog, and think, “Oh, I just love that.” However, it is practical. Just ask my feet.
We have hardwood flooring in our entire house – well, except for the baths and laundry room. And I love it. However, this long expanse between the sink and the stove was causing me a little grief.
This cute rug once called that space home, but cooking and a wool rug just don’t mix. I was spending way too much getting it professionally cleaned every few weeks. Eventually, I decided to go nude bare and just stand on the floor while working away in the kitchen.
My feet, however, begged for relief, and I finally caved in. I ordered an industrial padded rug. It is rubberized, and any spills and drips can be easily wiped up. There won’t be any trips to the rug cleaner for this baby.
Pretty, it ain’t!!!! I had a choice of black, gray, or brown. I decided that brown would blend in better with the floor. (This photo was shot right after I laid it down, and the ends have now flattened out).
Let’s face it. With the holidays coming up, we are all going to be spending a lot more time standing while preparing all of those delicious meals and baking all of those yummy goodies.
The rest of me might get exhausted while I’m cooking my heart out, but my feet will be happy.
Take care.

Oh I really need one of those! One at the sink and one at the stove…feels like I’m there all day!! Thanks for linking up.

I almost bought one at Marshall’s last week, now I think I may go back over and see if they still have it. My feet will surely thank me 🙂
I’ve always had hardwoods in kitchen, up until we bought this house in January and it has ceramic tile in kitchen. Not only do I like the LOOK of wood flooring better, but my feet and legs have never ached like they did from standing on the tile floor for cooking/clean up. So I bought 2 of the gel mats from Sams Club–they look very similar to yours except they have a sort-of basket weave pattern. Spills wipe right up, it keeps gunk out of the grout in those areas, and my feet/legs thank me daily!!!
Gosh, I need one of these rugs so bad!!! Did you order it online, or buy it at a shop? Please let me know, as I really want to get a couple of them!
Thank-You! 🙂

They did not pay us to write the blog.
That is what I need! You’re right. It blends in with your floor. I just put the wool rug that was in front of my sink in the washer. It survived the wash, but it’s a little fimsy now. I don’t think it was doing my feet much good anyway. laurie
What a great idea and this is the time of year that it will really come in handy!
