It’s always great to get some inspiration from famous gardens. Well, you can’t get much more famous than the New York Botanical Garden and Monet’s garden at Giverny.
During a visit to New York City last summer, a friend and I took the train to see how the New York Botanical Garden recreated Monet’s garden at Giverny.
Our main goal was the lily pond which was at its summer prime. We passed this foot bridge, similar to Monet’s, on the way to the pond.
The place was just full of happy, buzzing bees doing what they do. They added such a nice natural touch to the already beautiful flowers.
The lily pond was filled with different species of lilies.
I loved the texture on these pods. They look so heavy, but they are very light and delicate to the touch.
Some of the blossoms were white.
You can see why toads and frogs like these pads.
I think this is the money shot. The color is so perfect.
This blossom was huge, and there were so many different textures.
Some of the lilies, like this one, were leaning over.
This one is called Miami Rose.
The pond was full of very curious fish. They reminded me of the ones we saw at the Rockcastle River Trading Company (here). I love to visit different gardens, especially one as famous and as fine as the NYC Botanical Garden. It is hard to believe that philanthropists had the vision over 100 years ago to donate this land to the city and to create such an oasis of beauty and quiet in such a busy urban area.

Hi Janette, Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. I hope you had a wonderful time in France, it sure sounds lovely! Beautiful pictures! I have been to Monet’s house and have pictures of his garden. It is still one of my favorite vacation memories. Thanks for sharing this NYC style version!
