I, along with the rest of blog world, am obsessed with chalkboard paint. Now Martha Stewart has chalkboard labels, and you can use them for everything. While I am a fan of Martha, I decided it was time to make my own. It all started with this.
Since I am crazy about chalkboard paint, I have both the spray and non-spray paint on hand. For this project, the spray option was the way to go.
I thought it would be fun to make my own chalkboard labels. First, I spread out some sticky-backed mailing address labels. Name tags would work as well. It would be easy to get creative with different sizes and shapes. I was trying to keep it classic with the rectangle label.
The fun part was spraying them with the paint. I think I did four coats. I didn’t really count. I wanted a smooth dark coating. This project was so fast and easy.
Here they are ready to be used. Aren’t they cool?!?
They are working out great! Plus, since I had every thing on hand, the price was right.
Okay this is just so cool. I will be making these pronto!! Yours turned out looking so good and I hope that mine will look as good as yours.
Love chalk paint too! So happy to have you stop by my blog….glad you like the DIY free plate holders!
I would have never thought of painting labels with chalkboard paint! I so want labels but have been just scratchin’ and scratchin’ my head trying to figure out what to use… Genius!
You could also cut them before painting… with pinking shears or other scissors that give a decorative trim…. can you smell the smoke of me thinkin’?
Thanks for the inspiration!
