As a former newspaper reporter, I know how important it is to get the scoop. That means you get the story and release the details before any other news venue does. I have a great scoop to share with you today.
It’s my feed scoop turned candle holder. I bought the scoop at a farm auction for $2.00.
My mother repurposed it by tole painting it after she washed it well and sanded it.
The technique she used is very similar to the one she used for my mailbox turned bread box. After it was sanded, she spray painted it, painted a design onto it, glazed it, and then applied a sealer.
It is a perfect candle holder. It has gotten some dings here and there, but that’s okay. It’s patina. Right?
Isn’t it perfect for adding a little personality to a table top?
Mother went heavy on the glaze, but a soft touch would look just as nice.
I thought that was the original design. Nice job mom. It makes the perfect candle holder.
Just lovely and what a great job Mom did! It is perfect for a candle.
