Last week when I visited my parents, I asked if they knew anyone who had honey bees.  Lucky for me, they did.  I got my honey, some beautiful eggs, and made some new friends.  No more words are needed.  Enjoy!

Two weeks ago I shared a photo of a morning dove who had made a nest in a planter in our courtyard.  I thought she was sitting on her eggs, but she was actually keeping the babies, that were born when we were away, warm.  By the time I saw them, their eyes were open.  This photo shows that the parents now leave them alone for short periods of time.  I think that tomorrow they will fly away.   I will probably shed a tear or two.

    It is gratifying to see ‘sustainability’ taking such a hold in this country. Even if the Magic City community gardens are popping up everywhere. Don’t think we are our city code will allow for chicks or bees. However, I was surprised to see in the latest William’s Sonoma catalogue that they gave space to locations where one could purchase bees and/or chicks. The times…..they are a changing…..
