It’s time for an adoption update.
It’s that time again, and it’s that time I am shocked that Google has been home 10 months. At this point I thought we might be close to getting our paperwork from Thailand to start the finalization process here in North Carolina. We have a feeling it will be delayed due to some offices in Thailand closing due to the Coronavirus. I don’t mind waiting on the paperwork, but I feel so heartbroken for the families that were told they were about to travel, and now things are on hold, and they don’t know for how long. Please say a prayer for those families and for their kiddos.
I just have to be that proud mamma and say Google is the cutest little boy and his laugh is adorable. Thinking about his laugh makes me laugh. His laugh, when he is on a roll, is so contagious. Even one day on the playground, a little kid came up to me and told me he has a good laugh. He LOVES slapstick humor, and it gets him on a roll. The other night we did a family movie night and watched the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I have been reading the book with Little Miss so she knew about Winnie the Pooh. Google didn’t know about him yet, but he loved it. He thought Tigger was a hoot. On some scenes he just couldn’t stop laughing.
He continues to love being outside. After reading this book I try to get my kids outside every day. Even if it is cold, he bundles up. If it’s raining, he puts on his rain boots and loves to splash in the puddles. He is happy outside. I think a lot of it is not only the fresh air but that for the first two years of his life, he spent a lot of time outside or with fresh air always coming in. He wasn’t in the controlled environment of the perfect temperature inside a home like ours in the U.S. This picture is the first time he has experienced snow. He is riding his balance bike like a champ and wants to keep up with his sister when she bikes. When we are outside, he also requests this toy almost daily. This has not only been one his his favorites but a favorite with the neighborhood kids. It was well worth the investment and gets used a lot! We even took it to Kentucky last year for the 4th of July for my kids and niece. It is great to set up for a family-friendly front porch happy hour.
In our neighborhood park they have a soccer program for little ones. Little Miss has played since she was two and has loved it. Google watched Little Miss play in the fall, and we thought he could give it a try. We have only had one practice, but he was a champ. Every night we go around the table and ask “what is your favorite part of the day” and we ask if you had a thorn or a bad part of the day. Usually, Google repeats what his sister says as his favorite part. That night for dinner when we asked him he said, “Score goal soccer” and had a big smile. We have been asking favorite parts of the day since Little Miss came home, and it is always amazing what she comes up with for her favorite thing. It brings things back to the perspective that even the smallest thing can be her favorite thing and make the biggest impact in her mind for the day.
His speech and talking is starting to come together. From early on he understood English and what we were saying. He was saying a few words here and there, but now he is starting to put together a few more words. He repeats EVERYTHING you say. Even to the point when I asked him in the car what red light means and he said, “Stop…ahhh.” After he said the “ahhh'” I realized I do make an ahhh sound when I get a red light. Whoops, time to practice some patience when I hit those red lights.
He continues to be all boy. Cars, construction, fire trucks, anything related to those things he loves. Even here he is looking at my consumer reports car edition. Haha. When Little Miss is at home, she is always in a dress up costume, and he has had no interest in dressing up. He does have a fireman’s hat he likes to put on at times. But you can tell he has an older sister when Little Miss announced that she was Elsa, and Google didn’t miss a beat and said he was Anna. He hasn’t even seen Frozen, but he has seen his sister play Frozen all the time.
The brother, sister bond is strong. Do they fight at times? Yes. But for the most part at home, these two love being together. Little Miss is learning to read, so she likes to pretend she is the librarian and do story time with him. When she is looking at books, he is looking at books. Looking back, I remember Google didn’t always sit for a long time when we read unless it was about construction or cars. Now he will sit and listen to any book. He really enjoys book time, and I love the extra cuddling I get with him when I read.
Google is about to turn three this week! How is that possible? We missed the first two birthdays, and we can’t wait to have a cake for him, sing, and shower him with love. My mom is coming down for the fun. I have a feeling the balloons will be a favorite for him.
We hope you enjoyed this adoption update.
Cheers!

So enjoyed this adoption update. What great parents you are. My adopted grandson will be 10 in July and oh what a wonderful pleasure to see this little guy develop (well he isn’t so little now, rather tall). My two biological granddaughter’s have loved him from day one and the bond is so strong. Can’t wait to see Google’s handsome little face. Am sure he is as beautiful as his sweet sister.
