We took our two granddaughters and the rest of the family to the Kentucky Castle for Sunday brunch recently. If you are a little girl who loves princesses, then brunch in a real castle is a dream come true. The Kentucky Castle has received buckets full of news coverage lately because a well-known reality couple had their wedding there a few weeks ago. Thankfully, those events were over, and we were able to enjoy a farm-fresh meal in relatively peace and quiet.

When we arrived at the castle, which is just about fifteen minutes from our house, we had time to enjoy the surroundings before it was time for our reservation.
I was happy to have my Anywhere Baggallini because it gave me plenty of space to carry a sweater that I needed for the dining room’s air conditioning.
I was also able to carry some water bottles for the girls, hair bows, makeup, and all the other things that one needs on an outing with a four-year-old and an 18-month-old. The attached change purse came in handy for cash.
The grounds of the Kentucky castle are beautiful. Along with acres of beautiful meadow, there are also fountains, herb and salad gardens, a pool, arbors, evergreen shrubs, flower-filled pots, and a greenhouse that is used for large events.
When we finally had brunch, I ordered a delicious frittata with a side biscuit. Hens are kept on the property, and the eggs were freshly picked.
While we were waiting for our meal to arrive, I took a stroll through the public areas of the castle. They were quite ornate in a new kind of way.
The hotel rooms are located upstairs which is off-limits to the public.
After brunch we did more browsing, or should I call it frolicking? That sounds like what you do at a castle.
The castle grows a lot of flowers, veggies, and herbs in raised beds, and they provided a perfect maze for the girls to “get lost.”
We made up stories about what goes on in the turrets and were positive that Rapunzel probably spent some time there.
Beautiful colorful planters are placed around the grounds to soften the harsh stone exterior.
The Kentucky Castle has a long and storied past. It was built by a man for his wife after they toured Europe. I have met that lady, who is now in her 80’s, and she is beautiful. I suspect that in her younger days, she was movie star beautiful and deserved a castle. However, the couple eventually divorced, and then castle was never completed. Then at one point, there was a fire that did a lot of damage. Eventually, some businessmen bought it, turned it into a hotel and event center, and that’s where it is now.
We learned that they do a special princess event on Sunday afternoons, complete with singing and cupcakes. We will look into that for the future.
Meanwhile, I will be using my Anywhere Baggallini on my future travels. It has perfect nooks and crannies for a serious traveler like me. Plus the new color grape jelly is perfect for fall. A good bag is one that you can use on a day to day basis and for special events like vacations and brunch in a castle. And you’ll find good bags at Baggallini. Go here to see their vast selection.
Take care.
This post was sponsored by Baggallini, but all opinions are my own.
