I get asked all of the time which appliances we are putting in our new house. It might be because so many of you know how much I disliked the poor design and workmanship of the KitchenAid refrigerator that we had in our last house. I sure don’t want to make that mistake again. Appliances are so costly, and they can/should last about 15 years so it’s very important to select the right ones for your home, your wallet, and your lifestyle. Are you ready to see which appliances we selected?
Our Appliances
Refrigerator
This time we are getting an LG door in door French door fridge. Our landlords did a complete remodel of our apartment last fall, and after doing lots of research, they selected this same refrigerator for our apartment. I have loved it from the minute we moved in. Our kitchen designer has designed our kitchen so we can have a full size fridge rather than a counter-depth fridge. This will give us more cubic feet to play with. The door in door feature is so efficient, and I love all of the storage it provides. When our family was here last week for the holiday, that door was a great place for storing beverages. The freezer side is plenty big, too.
Stove
We are getting the same stove that we had in our last place because I LOVED it. It’s the Thermador 36 inch dual fuel range. We had the 48 inch model in another house, and I called it my Cadillac because I loved polishing it and keeping it looking like new. I can only say positive things about this stove. It never disappointed me. I love having the four burners, but the griddle is right there in the middle waiting for pancakes, French toast, grilled cheese, quesadilla, etc. You can get a peak of the stove in our last kitchen, but our new one will be the 2018 version.
Dishwasher
The dishwasher will also be by Thermador, and it’s the 24 inch Sapphire Series panel ready dishwasher. That means the front of the dishwasher will have a cover to match the kitchen cabinets. And the cool thing is that it will be elevated so we won’t have to lean over to load and unload the dishes. We will pull this off by placing it at the end of the island. I saw this feature in a kitchen showroom and knew that we would really enjoy the ease of not bending over. Hey, we aren’t 30 anymore.
Microwave
In another post I mentioned that we are getting this microwave drawer rather than a countertop or cabinet level one. We are excited to free up some counter space this way. Everyone that we talked to who has one has really liked it.

Television
We will have a television over the fireplace in our family room, which is the new addition. We are going with the Frame. Are you familiar with it? When we aren’t watching television, it becomes art. I am very excited about this because we have been staring at a big black box over the fireplace for far too long. You can’t even tell that photo hanging over the book case is a television can you? The Frame is by Samsung, and you can get more information about it here.
Washer and Dryer
I couldn’t find the exact style, but we are getting top of the line Maytag front load washer and dryer in white. They will be elevated on risers that will give us some extra storage space in the laundry room.
So, that’s it for the appliances you might be interested in. Of course, Mike has picked out gadgets and goodies to make our lives easier, but these are the ones that are important to me. Thanks so much for stopping in.
Take care.

I love my Thermador Sapphire Series Dishwasher, that being said, I am having to replace the clips on the bottom shelf to the tune of $200. I has only been 3 years and I felt they should last longer. I adore my raised washer and dryer, they are real back savers. Your new kitchen is starting to take shape.

Beth, we are slowly getting there.

Thank you for sharing your new appliance choices with us. I do have to ask about the microwave drawer, however. I read customer comments on it and they were very negative. How did you make the decision to get this microwave despite the negative reviews?
Janette says
Bonnie, we talked to some people who own one, and they really like theirs. I guess you can call it “word of mouth.” Don’t worry. If we don’t like it, I will definitely write a post about it, but I hope I never have to.
