1,245 days – that is how long we have been in our adoption journey. Start to finish. We started paperwork, doctor visits, and home visits well before our girl was even born. Last Friday we completed the final requirement for Thailand in this adoption.
We headed to the Thai embassy in DC. We walked in the doors and fifteen minutes later we were finished. Little Miss is now officially our daughter on both sides of the ocean. I will never be able to write how much I love this girl. She is such a blessing to our family.
Many people have asked why did it take so long, and why can’t it go faster. There are many factors, and there is a reason for the lengthy process. I always tell people if someone is pregnant, they know they have nine months start to finish. But when families enter the international adoption process, they only have an estimate of how long it will take. That’s just life and how it all works. This process is slow but steady, and we knew that going in. My goal was to keep my head high and have a positive attitude for this whole process. Was it hard and long? YES
Would I do it again?
Yes, and we are! The process has already started. Wish us luck, and keep us, baby number two, and the caretakers in your prayers.

My niece and husband just got home from India with their 8 month old daughter! They spent almost 3 months there, as required, but are finally home and so very happy to be a family of 3. It certainly is a long process, but oh so worth it! Little Miss is just adorable!!!
