Hello, everyone and Happy Spring!!! As you discovered in the post Jordan wrote Monday, we are doing some cleaning and freshening up for spring. At my house it also means new upholstery on the great room wing back chair. I have had the same fabric on this chair for 20 years, and it’s simply time for a change. The fabric is still in great condition, and it is also a classic that has been timeless. Those are the qualities that I am looking for in our new fabric selection. My local fabric store is having a March Madness sale right now, and so, it’s the time to buy. I took some photos of the ones I thought might work, and I would love for you all to chime in with your opinions.
This is the chair that is getting a new set of clothes. Next up are the fabric choices. They are somewhat basic. I can pull in trendy designs, colors, and textures through pillows that I switch out several times a year. Now, look these over and vote for your fave in the comments. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can’t go wrong with a classic houndstooth. I vote A.

I like H for the chair. B appears to be similar to handwoven rag rugs. H and several other samples would be better used a larger item such as a sofa or love seat.
Donna says
Sorry=== B should be at the beginning of sentence 3.
Christy Gragg says
Definitely B!!!!

I think B would pick up the colors and style of the area rug in front of the sofa and pick up the colors of the print over the drop leaf table. It may take more skill to make it work on the sing chair. B would also work well with the weave of some of your sofa pillows.
E would be easier to work with on a wing chair but be a bit more formal.

I vote for using B with maybe a solid blue (I know you love blue!) used on the back of the chair and wings. (Sometimes you can save money buying a solid to pair with a more expensive print, too!) This would update a traditional chair to a fresh look, and that fabric would be easy to pair with fun pillows later. Wouldn’t consider A or D, as they have a wintery look to them and although I love G, you might tire of the bold pattern more quickly than B. In my opinion, B is fun, fresh, and easy to work with!

Some of these would give you the same overall look you already have.
G is great but gives you the same colorway that you have. Although I like it.
I say go with H !

C is the most classic and my favorite. B and E would give you the most color choices if that were what you are going for.

I think A and D look too much like what is on the chair right now so not as noticeable of a refresh, Of course you know I would love H the most but think it is too far out of your comfort zone so think you wouldn’t feel good about it when it’s done. F looks like it might pick or pull and may not be tightly woven enough to wear well. With all that being said, I think my first choice is B with all of it’s fun colors to pull from, but if that makes you fearful, I think G would be fun and fresh too.
Marguerite says
H!
Sherry Batterton says
B has beautiful color, texture and style. I agree with suggestion of using a solid for chair back and sides. It will look great !!
