Well, we are back from our week of bicycling in France. If you follow us on Instagram, then you saw the daily photos we posted. If you don’t follow us, then go here to do so. We had a great week with perfect weather, good cycling, good food, good downtime, and good times together. The week before we arrived, the temps were in the high 90’s and even a few days over 100. Lucky for us, we only had one really hot day, and it was very doable. But we’re back now for a few days before heading to Haven for the annual blogging conference we love, and we have some good posts planned for you. Plus, Jordan has a major adoption update. Let’s just say we’re smiling.
Last year we replaced our traditional dining table with one that is not so formal. When we entertain, we use the dining area in the great room, and that room fits in with the more casual lifestyle that we lead these days. The table needed to blend in with its surroundings, and the old table was just too stuffy. I was happy to find a great rectangular table with a rustic vibe that looks and performs as if it was way more than it did.
We also bought two chairs for the ends of the table to go along with a bench and wooden chairs that sit on the sides.
I am crazy about the new chairs, but I wasn’t so wild about the finish on their legs. It was a light finish, and I didn’t like the way it looked with the dark wood on the table.
I decided to stain the legs a darker finish to go with the table, and used these cloths to make the process easy.
The legs are a rough texture and were just itching to be stained. All I did was wipe the stain cloths onto the legs.
It took less than half an hour to do the two chairs, and the results are just what I was hoping for.
Although they might look like it in the photo, the chair legs aren’t the exact same shade as the table. They are definitely blendy, blendy – not matchy, matchy, and that’s just what I was going for. My “same color wood on every piece of furniture days” are over. I am so glad that I finally took the plunge and made this change. Color me happy.
Take care.
