I can finally breathe and say spring has sprung here in upstate New York. We are weeks and even months behind some people, but I will take it and enjoy the sunshine right now. I am working on adding spring and summer touches to our back porch, and I wanted to bring some flowers on the scene. I had some small terracotta pots that were boring, and I decided to spiff them up by wrapping them in fabric.
You only need a few things for this project – any size flower pot, Mod Podge and fabric of your choice.
I had some fun fabric in my swag bag from Haven last year. Since the pot is smaller at the bottom, you will need to trace out your fabric. Start with the pot on the fabric, and draw the template with about an inch of extra fabric. Roll the pot around and down to the shape of a rainbow.
The next part was hard to do and photograph at the same time. Starting at the end of your fabric, add the Mod Podge just to the main part of the pot. The fabric will be hanging over the top and bottom of the pot. Roll your pot around as you glue down the fabric to the main part of the pot.
Once the main base has the fabric, then work to glue down the top and wrap over the sides. If you have too much fabric, you can cut down. Add Mod Podge to the top and secure the fabric down. Flip over the pot, and cut off the excess of the bottom fabric. Make a few cuts in the bottom, add the glue, and secure the fabric down. Let dry.
I love how this made a boring flower pot a little fun.
Right now the flower pot is sitting on my new garden stool. The porch is now becoming warm enough to sit on the loveseat and enjoy a book. I hope to read Gone with the Wind this summer. I have only seen the movie.
Knowing how easy this was, I think I am going to make some more to put on the window sill in my kitchen.
Thank you for stopping in. Now let’s make it a good week.
Cheers!
