I have been making my own laundry detergent for years and even shared it with you. So, recently when I ran out of my usual store-bought pre-wash, I decided to make a DIY laundry pre-wash spray. My mom told me about it after seeing it in a Heloise newspaper column. I am happy to report that it takes only three ingredients, and I already had all of them.
All the mixture needs is equal amounts any brand of hand dish washing detergent (not dish washer), ammonia, and water. I used 1/2 cup of each. Making a big batch of this spray is clearly a lot more cost efficient than buying those name brands at the store.
Put them in a spray bottle, and be sure to label it. The next time you need to deal with grass stains, spaghetti sauce, or any other smear that could potentially ruin an outfit, give this a try. And by the way, if you want to see where I use my new spray, check out my laundry room transformation here.
That’s all there is to it. Do you have any special mixtures you like to use when doing laundry? Thanks for stopping in.

Thanks for posting this…I always need to use prewash because sweet hubby is so cute, but so greasy :^0., plus he sells machinery, so his clothes are always a mess!
Blessings to you,
J
PS: don’t use this on something that you intend to bleach later….bleach and ammonia are mortal enemies!

Jayird,
Glad you will be able to use the cleaner. Oh and good point with the bleach and ammonia. Yes do not use together.
Cheers!
