A few weeks ago I showed you the gift that Jordan and Cory gave me for my birthday this year. It is a painting of a Cape Cod style house that we built and lived in during the early 90’s. I had paintings of the other two homes we have lived in hanging on our gallery wall and wanted a painting of this one in order to complete the collection.
Just as a reminder, it’s the colorful painting there on the bottom left. The artist wrapped the painting around the edges of the canvas, and I didn’t want to cover it up with a frame. Meanwhile, it lost its importance by hanging on the wall with all of the other framed art.
My friend Carolyn R. came up with the perfect solution. She suggested that I paint a canvas black and mount the painting onto it. That is just what I did, and you can see what a difference it made.
Even though it is not framed, it now holds its own on the gallery wall.
It also has another dimension which makes it even more interesting to look at. Thanks, Carolyn.
On a completely different note, my parents found two abandoned baby bunnies in their garden.
My 91-year-old father has set up a bunny nursery in their garage and has become a “baby bunny baby daddy.”
Every few hours he feeds them with a dropper. I reminded them that these little bunnies will grow up and begin eating their vegetable garden and reproducing like, well……, rabbits. They’re not concerned with that right now. Daddy just wants to save them. They are the cutest things, and my dad has always had a soft spot in his heart for any animal. He is our own Dr. Doolittle.
Jordan is in Indiana on business this week, and she is painting furniture for her grandma (Mr. Right’s mom) who is about to move into her newly remodeled patio home. We’ll share photos soon.
Take care.
