I am not very good at going to a bookstore or a website and picking out a book. It seems that I do much better and get into it when the book I am reading was recommended by a friend or magazine review. So, let me be your friend today and recommend this great book that I simply couldn’t put down.
The Aviator’s Wife by Melanie Benjamin was reviewed in More magazine, and that’s how I learned about it. The book is an historical novel told in the first person by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, the wife of Charles Lindbergh. It tells what she endured while being married to the most famous man in the world at the time. It tells about the kidnapping of their son and the path their careers and lives took. It is captivating, and I highly recommend it.
And by the way, you might remember that I accidentally washed my Kindle Paperwhite in the washing machine when we returned home from Burma. Due to a series of mishaps, it was my fifth Kindle. Well, I was talking to an Amazon.com rep about something entirely different and mentioned my Kindle. He told me to return it (thank goodness I had not yet tossed it out), and they replaced it for half price. They didn’t pay me to tell you this, but that was excellent customer service and smart because I am telling you.
Take care.
Amazon.com is great. I upgraded to the Kindle Keyboard (from the original Kindle) last year in January, and then just last month, I dropped it one too many times. Ordered a new Kindle, and while chatting to an Amazon.com rep about another matter, asked if they repaired Kindles and while they do not, he gave me a $25 promotional credit to help with the cost of a new one. They are really great with their customer service.
Amazon must be pretty amazing – I don’t think I would have the same story if I washed my I-pad. Isn’t it wonderful when you can relay a positive story about a huge company? BTW I’m always on the look out for a great book – thanks for the review.
