Hi all!!! Another title for this post could be “How to Turn a Man Cave into a Cheery Laundry Room”. That’s what my mom and I have been up to today.
This is what we started with, and we are far from having any after pictures to share. Hey, we are just now getting our showers, and it’s almost dinner time!!!
The laundry area of our charming 1928 bungalow is far from charming. We inherited a mismatched washer and dryer from the previous owner, some unpainted walls, and some rough cabinets. For two years I have called this rustic space a laundry room, but with Mom here, our goal is to make it as appealing as possible while spending almost zero dollars.
That means we’re spending no money on labor and using paint we have on hand. The only expense will be fabric we bought with our 40 per cent off coupons, some foam carpet squares that will receive a transformation, and Ikea curtains that will become makeshift walls.
We have found some cute ideas on Pinterest that we will be trying, too. In all, our plan is to make it the best little laundry room that a dark and cold basement has ever seen. Lucky for both of us, tomorrow is spa day. Those deep tissue massages, time in the hot tub, gourmet lunches, and spinning class will certainly be welcome.

I cannot wait to see what you do!
Looking forward to seeing the transformation!!!
fyi the washer and dryer set may not be the best looking but I’ve had mine for almost 20 years and have been told by my trusted appliance repair man to hang on to them because the new ones are, in his words, crap! Good for the repair man bad for the owner.
Can’t wait to see the new look.
I agree I am really excited to see what great ideas you all have for this area. Spa Day sounds awesome!!
I am sure between the two of you, this room will be so beautiful!!…Have fun!
I can’t wait to see it when you are finished! I know it will be amazing! Good luck!
My laundry room looks much like yours. I’ve never know what to do with it…it just seemed like such a big job. I am looking forward to your after pics. Great inspiration!
You are both so cute!!! Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
Blessings,
Cindy
