When Jordan and I painted and restyled her back porch a few weeks ago, we shopped the house for colorful accessories to add those pops of color everyone loves.
One of the colorful props we added was this hand-me-down art poster that I gave her. It is a 1908 contemporary interpretation of the Pompidou Center in Paris. The colors are wonderful and so in your face. It is a challenge to hang, though, because instead of one little nail hook in the back, there are two.
Two, as in you better get the two nails pounded in straight or the poster will be crooked.
Jordan assured me there was nothing to worry about it we followed her tips. We used:
– Painter tape
– 1 Level
– 1 pencil
– 2 nails
– 1 hammer
1. Put masking or painter tape over the holes in the poster backing and then use a pencil to mark the holes on the tape.
2. Place the tape on the wall where you want to hang the art. Use a level to make sure the tape is straight. Pound in the first nail and check the level again.
3. Then pound in the second nail. Be sure to watch your fingers – ahem – if you are new at this.
4. Carefully hang the art.
5. Then check with the level again to make sure it is even.
6. Finally, stand back and admire your handiwork and pat yourself on the back because you just realized old dogs really can learn new tricks. And by the way, this method would work even if you have an advanced art hanging degree and are using toggle bolts.

How about you. Have you learned any new tricks lately?

WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THIS?
I love this idea, so simple “why didn’t i think of that”
.
The idea I use often is to tape a thumb tack to back of picture frame, where nail needs to be. Position nail in “sawtooth” hanger or hole in back of frame, masking tape to fasten. Push picture to wall to make tiny thumb tack hole. you have hole where nail or hook needs to be.
I also tape flatheaded thumb tack on back of frame at bottom if frame is on wall with doors or where it may be bumped. Keeps pictures straight. It also keeps my cuckoo clock straight when pulling weight chains everyday.
