Grandma’s Peanut Butter Fudge

By Janette | Food

Greetings.  Sorry I haven’t posted much lately, but I have been busy traveling for work, and Mr. Spring and I ran in a half marathon (read about our first full marathon here) this past week-end in Las Vegas.  Add preparing for Christmas to that, and you can see why I haven’t written.  I am pretty sure you have enjoyed my mother’s posts about the Ralph Lauren rooms (here and here), though.  That’s one of the nice thing about sharing a blog.

Last week I gave you my paternal grandmother’s stove-top potpourri recipe (here), and today I am sharing a favorite recipe from my maternal grandmother.

PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE

2 cups white sugar

2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed

1 cup milk

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, till it gets to the soft ball stage.

Remove from the heat, stir in a cup of peanut butter and 1 tablespoon of butter.

Pour into a buttered 8 x 8 inch pan.  Allow to cool before cutting.

Have a good week-end, and Cheers!

Oh holy yum! And it doesn’t require things like candy thermometers or know-how. 😉 Thanks for sharing!

How was the 1/2? Good friend of mine ran her first full in Vegas last weekend. She’s cute…seems surprised that she is so sore, haha.

      Teresa,

The half was great Vegas at night was the way to do it. Plus it was flat as can be for a course. Hope your friend is getting over being sore. When I did the marathon in October I was sore for a good week.

hi. Just wondering how long does it take to stir and become a soft ball texture? I stirred for 45 min lol.

It should definitely not have taken 45 minutes. Do you have a candy thermometer? If not, you can drop it into a little cup of very cold water and work it with your finger. it it forms into a little ball, about the size of a pearl and is somewhat soft and pliable, then that is the soft ball stage.
