Don’t you just love it when you can create silk from a sow’s ear? (I love that old saying and have been waiting for the right time to use it!)
Well, I did just that. When we moved in, I discovered an old yellow trash can with yellow flowers that the previous owner had left behind. I painted it white and stopped at that. However, last week when I was avoiding another project, I decided to do something to the waste basket and then use it in our powder room, here.
This is the waste basket with just the white paint on it.
I have read so much about the Graphics Fairy, and I went to her website and printed out two of these labels.
I tore them instead of cutting them so they would look older.
I then decoupaged the graphics to two sides of the trash can.
When it was dry, I applied some brown Briwax so it would look aged. The rough areas around the edge picked up the wax a little more, and I am not so happy about that. Then I taped off an area to paint B.M. Palladian Blue, the same color as the powder room walls.
Finally, I sprayed it with two coats of acrylic sealer so that it would be protected. It works well in the powder room and since it cost me nothing, I am happy with the final result. Oink, Oink!
