{"id":9229,"date":"2012-04-11T19:25:34","date_gmt":"2012-04-12T00:25:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=9229"},"modified":"2012-04-11T08:26:35","modified_gmt":"2012-04-11T13:26:35","slug":"working-out-with-yard-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=9229","title":{"rendered":"Working Out with Yard Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>\u00a0The projects are non-stop here, and now that the weather has been nice, we have decided to concentrate on the outside. \u00a0Our house had horrible curb appeal when we bought it. \u00a0Here you can see it before we had it painted gray, added window boxes and shutters, and painted the front door red.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/08\/23\/a-little-mascara-and-some-lipstick\/house-before-shrubs-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4428\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4428\" title=\"House-before-shrubs\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/House-before-shrubs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/House-before-shrubs.jpg 480w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/House-before-shrubs-242x323.jpg 242w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Last year we did a couple of fixes to the front such as cut down some bushes and grasses and add window boxes,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/08\/04\/window-boxes-finally\/\">here<\/a>. \u00a0We had the house painted, \u00a0which made a huge difference,<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/08\/23\/a-little-mascara-and-some-lipstick\/\">\u00a0here<\/a>. \u00a0Mr. Spring and I had our focus on the backyard overhaul \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/05\/09\/backyard-face-lift-part-1\/\">here<\/a> and<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/07\/10\/its-not-easy-being-green\/\"> here<\/a> and DIY patio (<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/12\/28\/revisiting-the-patio\/\">here<\/a>). \u00a0This year we have decided the front yard needs some love.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>The previous owner did not want any yard work, and he planted ivy in the \u00a0place \u00a0of grass. \u00a0It had good potential but tons of weeds and a variety of other things were growing in it. \u00a0It just looked blah, and we wanted BAM!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Our first step before ripped out everything was to figure out a plan and to see if we had anything worth keeping. \u00a0We met with Erin from <a href=\"ernerin@gmail.com \">Escapes Garden Consulting<\/a>. She is a landscape architect by day, and this is an on-the-side gig. \u00a0Also, her rates are very reasonable. \u00a0 Anyway, she was great and put together a plan of attack for us along with a list of plants in the style that would complement our house. \u00a0This saved us a lot of research time. \u00a0She even suggested the plants that we needed to save and work with.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2012\/04\/11\/working-out-with-yard-work\/yard-side-pre-progressnew\/\" with ivy on the left of the stairs. \u00a0There were day lilies, and Erin recommended we transplant them to this area and then fill it in with bulbs and other flowers.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 can&#8217;t wait to tackle the rest of the yard. \u00a0It is going to take some time because this little section took a lot longer than we expected. \u00a0Oh well.
