For a while now I have been having a love affair with terrariums – from afar. \u00a0Last fall I wrote here<\/a>\u00a0about the simple terrarium I put together using discount plants from Lowe’s and an old pickle jar from my mother.<\/h3>\n

This is how it looked when I finished. \u00a0It was all nice and healthy, and I was happy.<\/h3>\n

Eventually, it looked like this with only the ivy staying healthy.<\/h3>\n

I wasn’t too discouraged, though. \u00a0Lucky for me. Mrs. Limestone over at Brooklyn Limestone<\/a> curated some goodies for Joss and Main a few months ago, and one of the items in her collection was a cool terrarium. \u00a0As soon as I saw it, I knew it had to be mine.<\/h3>\n

After buying plants and supplies once again at Lowe’s, I started building a new enclosed garden. \u00a0First, I lined the bottom with foil, just to protect it from runaway water.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Then I \u00a0topped the foil with some small pebbles.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

I selected a variety of plants with different textures and colors. \u00a0Instead of adding soil and placing the plants in the soil, this time I kept them in their pots. \u00a0I might have to actually plant them in the soil down the road, but I am just going to watch and wait to see how they do.<\/h3>\n

I thought the terrarium needed a little sparkle, so I dug out some old pieces of silver, that had once belonged to Mr. Autumn’s aunt, to put around the bottom. \u00a0I don’t know what this little thingy is, but it is monogrammed and dated and is just charming.<\/h3>\n

I also added this little maid’s bell. \u00a0The top has little dents in it as if a teething baby chewed on it. \u00a0It’s very sweet.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Right now it is sitting pretty on an old French park chair that is in the corner of the kitchen. \u00a0The nice thing is that it would look great as a table centerpiece or sitting on the side board. \u00a0Hopefully, I can keep these babies alive, but if one dies, it will be easy to take it out and put a fresh one in.<\/h3>\n
