Last September when Mr. Autumn and I bicycled through France, I took lots of photos of crosses<\/a> and windows. \u00a0The French have such interesting windows. \u00a0I thought you might enjoy seeing some of them.<\/h3>\n

This is one of the most famous windows in the world – the Rose Window in Le Cathedral de Notre Dame.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

These windows are in the chapel at the hunting lodge of one of the Louis (es?). He went here when he was tired of Versailles – poor baby. \u00a0 (I don’t remember if it was 14, 15, 16, etc). \u00a0Even though the windows look chartreuse, they are clear. \u00a0The reflection made them look absolutely beautiful.<\/h3>\n

This simple window treatment looks as if it is a row of napkins that have been pinned to a rod.<\/h3>\n

This is the window of a city hall. \u00a0They are often decked out in flowers.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0Again, I love the simplicity of the windows in this country cottage. \u00a0This is truly country French. \u00a0 Many times we Americans misinterpret what country French really<\/em> is supposed to look like.<\/h3>\n

I love the clear crystal chandelier hanging in front of this leaded window. \u00a0The chandelier almost disappears. \u00a0This chapel was in a little village along our route. \u00a0It had once been beside a monastery which had been bombed.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0Here are the windows of another city hall in another village. \u00a0Do you see a pattern?<\/h3>\n

I love how you can see the tiled roof of a nearby cottage through this stained glass window.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0Who needs curtains to soften the windows when these vines can do it?<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This color, which is very popular in this country now, has probably been on these old shutters for years and years. \u00a0Look at the moss growing on the tiled roof. \u00a0Isn’t it just the best?<\/h3>\n

Can anyone say patina?<\/h3>\n

This shutter design was everywhere<\/em>. \u00a0How charming is that?<\/h3>\n

\u00a0Not only do I love this shuttered window, but the stone work and line of the roof are perfection. \u00a0Look at the little medallions on the corners.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0Isn’t this entrance through these French doors welcoming? \u00a0The meal there was outstanding, by the way.<\/h3>\n
