kitchen.\u00a0 Our basement, though practical, is not a pretty room at this point.\u00a0 We have shelves for storing seasonal sports equipment, tables for my husband&#8217;s woodworking, and a laundry area.\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t necessarily want\u00a0our neighbors\u00a0to see in, and we didn&#8217;t necessarily want to see their place either.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/images.quickblogcast.com\/4\/8\/2\/6\/7\/284967-276284\/Windowbeforeoutside.jpg?a=11\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Looking into our basement from the outside of our house. \u00a0This was taken at night.<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/div>\n<div>Mom and I are fans of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.younghouselove.com\">Young House Love<\/a> blog, and they did a trick with their laundry room door that gave them some privacy from interested neighbors.\u00a0 \u00a0My husband and I decided the same technique would work for us.<\/div>\n<div>It is really simple.\u00a0 We bought\u00a0 Gila Privacy Window Film at Home Depot and applied it to our six basement windows.\u00a0 It worked for us just like it worked for them, and weare really happy about it.<\/div>\n<div>First, we cleaned our\u00a0windows with vinegar and water.\u00a0 I wore\u00a0my painting\u00a0respirator for this part because I have never liked the smell of\u00a0 vinegar .<\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/images.quickblogcast.com\/4\/8\/2\/6\/7\/284967-276284\/Windowbeforeinside.jpg?a=82\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">T<em>his is before I cleaned the window. \u00a0We did this at night so it hard to see the view.<\/em><\/div>\n<p>Then we measured the windows and cut the window covering to measure, adding an extra two inches on all sides.<\/p>\n<p>Next, we sprayed a solution that came with the kit onto the windows and on the covering.\u00a0 Then we put it on the windows and used an application tool that came in the kit to squeeze out the air bubbles and excess water.\u00a0 Finally, we cut off the excess with an exacto knife that also came in the kit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/images.quickblogcast.com\/4\/8\/2\/6\/7\/284967-276284\/windowafterinside.jpg?a=4\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Inside the basement after the film is on the window now you can&#8217;t see the neighbors.<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/images.quickblogcast.com\/4\/8\/2\/6\/7\/284967-276284\/better.jpg?a=35\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Privacy now that the film is on the window.<\/em><\/div>\n<p>Then I went outside and was shocked that I could not see in.\u00a0 Yet, on the inside we still got the daylight.\u00a0 We love it and wish we had done it sooner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Cheers!<\/div>\n<div><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>I was not paid by Gila to mention this product.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even though our basement is below ground level, the windows look out and are even with our neighbors&#8217;
