When my husband and I got engaged, my parents gave us a wonderful engagement gift. \u00a0It was our very own original monogram, created just for us. \u00a0We worked closely with artist Claudia Engle who developed a monogram that fit both of our personalities and that would be timeless. \u00a0Claudia does amazing work. \u00a0 You can check out her website here<\/a>. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

We had the intials of our first names, J and C, and wrapped them around the first letter of our last name, H. \u00a0We used the monogram at our wedding and will continue to use it on stationery products, glassware, linens, and even baby things in the future.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

Since we have had the monogram, I have been trying to think of ways to incorporate it into our new home. \u00a0Just the other day I realized we do not have coasters in our living room, and then I got a great idea. \u00a0I thought our monogram would be great on coasters. \u00a0I just had to play around to figure out how to do it. \u00a0I thought decoupage would be the way to go. \u00a0I did some research online and came up with a plan.<\/h3>\n

First, I had to purchase some materials. This is what I needed: \u00a0plain tiles, Mod Podge, tissue paper, card stock, felt, spray adhesive and varnish.<\/h3>\n

I assembled everything before I began my project.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The first thing I had to do was print our monogram onto the tissue paper which \u00a0I would then decoupage to the tile. \u00a0I knew the tissue paper was too thin to go through my printer. Gluing it to the card stock with spray adhesive would make it stronger. I sprayed the card stock with spray adhesive and then gently placed and smoothed out the tissue paper on top.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once the tissue paper was on the card stock, I cut around the edge to make sure the tissue paper wouldn’t get stuck in the printer. \u00a0 Then it was ready for printing.<\/h3>\n

My plan worked. Here you can see that the monogram printing on the tissue paper was a success. \u00a0I waited for the ink to dry before I proceeded to the next step.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once the ink was dry, I gently peeled off the tissue paper. \u00a0Now that I know how easy this is, I can print almost anything onto tissue paper. \u00a0The tissue paper will look opaque but if you want color or design, you could pick a different tissue paper.<\/h3>\n

The next step was to cut out the monogram and tissue paper to the size of the tile and then place it on the tile.<\/h3>\n

I put some Mod Podge on the tile right before I applied the monogrammed tissue paper.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here it is after my first coat Mod Podge. \u00a0I applied four coats \u00a0just to be on the safe side. \u00a0I waited for the tiles to dry between each coat. \u00a0After the final coat had dried, \u00a0I brushed on a couple of coats of varnish to protect the tiles from the hot, cold, and wet beverages they will encounter.<\/h3>\n

When all of the applications were completely dry, \u00a0I cut felt the size of each tile and glued it onto the backs.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was thrilled to see how it all worked out and how easy the whole process was. \u00a0And now, it’s time for a drink.<\/h3>\n
