Let’s freshen up the bathroom, and make it the best it can be.<\/em><\/p>\n

Since most of us are spending more time at home these days, let’s face it…….We are also spending more time in our bathrooms.\u00a0\u00a0 Have you taken a good look at yours lately?\u00a0 Is it looking tired and needing some much loved attention?\u00a0 It might be as simple as giving it a good old-fashioned cleaning from the very top to the very bottom.\u00a0 We have some simple steps you can take to make it look and work better for you.\u00a0 So, today, let’s freshen up the bathroom.<\/p>\n

Paint<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

If your bathroom is in need of more than just a good cleaning, perhaps a can of paint will be the help that it needs.\u00a0 Since bathrooms are so small, they need just a little paint and a few hours of your time to have a new look.\u00a0 You can paint the wall and\/or the cabinets for a whole new look.<\/p>\n

Towels and Wash Cloths<\/strong><\/h2>\n

How are those towels and wash cloths looking?\u00a0 Are their edges frayed?\u00a0 Have they thinned a lot from usage?\u00a0 Are they stained?\u00a0 When we moved into our new place 18 months ago, I bought all new towels and wash cloths and am so happy I did.\u00a0 I always stick with white because they are easy to bleach.\u00a0 However, I bought a dozen black wash cloths to use for make-up removal for both me and our overnight guests.\u00a0 Using black wash cloths means that our white ones will stay white longer.<\/p>\n

Mirrors and Lights<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Do you have mirrors and lights that are showing their age?\u00a0 Do they make your bathroom look dated?\u00a0 Replacing them can really make a difference in the way your room looks.\u00a0 We replaced our granny mirrors with some new ones, and that one change made a huge difference.\u00a0 We bought ours at Pottery Barn.<\/p>\n

Hardware<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Changing the hardware is a really simple way to update your bathroom.\u00a0 If you decide to paint your cabinets, then consider changing the hardware, too.\u00a0 However, you do not need to have freshly painted cabinets to add a new look with new hardware.<\/p>\n

Faucets<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I know.\u00a0 I know.\u00a0 This is getting a little more technical, but aged and yucky faucets can drag down your bathroom.\u00a0 New faucets can add some much needed sparkle.\u00a0 There are plenty of Youtube videos that will show you exactly how to make this change.<\/p>\n

Rugs<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Bathroom rugs get a lot of wear.\u00a0 The nice thing is that it doesn’t have to be a rug designed for just a bathroom.\u00a0 We have a Ruggable rug<\/strong><\/a> in our master bath, and it is an absolute workhorse.\u00a0 There are two parts – a top and a pad.\u00a0 When the top gets soiled or needs to be freshened up, I just toss it in the washer.\u00a0 We bought it here.<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0 Our guest bath has an antique Persian rug in it, and it looks great.\u00a0 I keep a bath mat under the sink in there, and we put it beside the tub when the grandkids take their baths.<\/p>\n

Storage<\/h2>\n

Just a few weeks ago, I decided that my under-sink storage could work better for me.\u00a0 I ordered these two storage bins<\/a><\/strong>, and put them<\/a><\/strong> to work.\u00a0 What a difference they<\/a><\/strong> made.\u00a0 With our cabinet tower and several drawers, we have plenty of bathroom storage.\u00a0 Don’t get me wrong.\u00a0 However, the simple addition of two sliding bins<\/a><\/strong> made all of the difference.<\/p>\n

Shower Curtain<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you have a shower curtain, how is it looking?\u00a0 What about the liner?\u00a0 Sometimes the liners can get pretty crusty.\u00a0 If you don’t want to buy a new one, then wash it in a bleach solution in your washing machine.\u00a0 If you sew, a shower curtain is simple to make.\u00a0 You can follow my directions here.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a> And if you have a shower door instead, did you know that shampoo will get rid of the gunk?\u00a0 Just use the kind that does not have conditioner in it.\u00a0 It will cut the grease and build-up on your shower door with some help from you.<\/p>\n

Waste Basket<\/h2>\n

\"Updated<\/p>\n

Make sure the inside of your waste basket gets cleaned out occasionally.\u00a0 It’s a great place for germs to reside.\u00a0 Also, you don’t always need to use a traditional trash can.\u00a0 Just make sure whatever you use is cute.\u00a0 It’s a simple way to make a statement.<\/p>\n

Toilet Brush<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This little bathroom necessity was the inspiration for this entire post.\u00a0 I noticed this morning that our toilet brush was really gross, and I ordered a new one right away.<\/p>\n

We hope this post inspires you to take a good look at your bathroom and decided if it needs to be freshen up.\u00a0 Have fun while you are at it.<\/p>\n
