Before we get started today, I want to brag about my father who is celebrating his 96th birthday today.\u00a0 He’s as sharp as a tack, as active of a 96 year old can be, and is a dear, dear man.\u00a0 We are a blessed family.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have lived in our new place over a year, and I haven’t given you a look at our master bath yet.\u00a0 We did not share the master bedroom or bath from our last house here on the blog. I wanted to keep those private areas to ourselves.\u00a0 However, since this house has already been in a magazine complete with shots of the bedroom and bath, it’s time to share it with you.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0 This soft blue is the third wall color that our painters applied.\u00a0 First, we tried the color the rest of the house is painted in, and it didn’t go with the tile.\u00a0 Then we tried a white, but it was too white.\u00a0 So, finally I used the paint color we had in the master bath of our last house, and it won.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Shaker style cabinets are made by the same company that did our kitchen.<\/a> , and the sinks, faucets, toilet, etc are all by Kohler. The counter top is quartz and has just some specks of blues, beiges, and grays on the white background.\u00a0 We were working with a limited amount of space because we wanted two walk-in closets in our bedroom and a second floor laundry room.\u00a0 In order to have those things, the square footage came from what could have been the master bath.\u00a0 In the world of master bathrooms, ours is small and basic, but it has everything we need.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We opted not to have a tub in our master bath.\u00a0 I wanted a bidet and a separate makeup area instead.\u00a0 Why a bidet?\u00a0 We started our marriage living in Europe, and our apartment there had one.\u00a0 I loved having it since it was so European.\u00a0 So, each house we have built or remodeled since then has had a bidet.\u00a0 I would much rather have one in our master bathroom than a tub.\u00a0 And besides, the guest bath has a tub, and I go there occasionally to take a bubble bath. (I do want to replace those small prints with a big ole piece of art.)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Until last week, we had mirrors over the sink and my makeup area that I did not care for.\u00a0 During construction the electricians, carpenters, and painters were all waiting for me to select mirrors.\u00a0\u00a0 I made a rush trip to HomeGoods and found three mirrors – two in one size and a smaller one.\u00a0 Perfect.\u00a0\u00a0 That was what I needed so they could proceed.\u00a0 However, I never liked them and have been searching since we moved in for something more my taste.\u00a0 Then I saw these mirrors with the brackets on the sides at Pottery Barn, and I knew they were the ones.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We have heated tile floors in the master bath, and that, too, is a luxury we enjoy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We still needed a rug for in front of our sinks to absorb the dampness from our feet after a shower.\u00a0 Until last week I had small white rugs in front of each sink.\u00a0 Then I decided to replace them with this Ruggable.<\/a>\u00a0 Since the top layer of a Ruggable<\/a> is washable, I knew our damp feet wouldn’t hurt it.\u00a0 I went with a traditional pattern and am very happy with it.\u00a0 Of course, it has the navy that I love.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Our shower is also a steam shower so we can sit in there and enjoy a good sauna when we are feeling sore.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

My makeup area is tucked away in the corner.\u00a0 The chair came from a Paris park.\u00a0 I kept the paint (lead and all) just like it was when I bought it and had my local fabric shop make a cushion for it.\u00a0 That small oil painting was purchased at a local antique sale.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This is the only before photo that I could find, and it is from the real estate listing.\u00a0 The new layout is completely different, but that’s the window that you see in some other shots.<\/p>\n

I think it’s an improvement, don’t you.\u00a0 That’s our master bathroom reveal.\u00a0 I hope you enjoyed it.<\/p>\n
