Favorite French Cookbooks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>We are highlighting my favorite French cookbooks in today&#8217;s post.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re going to do a different kind of food related post today.\u00a0 As you know I usually have a recipe for you every Friday, and the truth is that I made vegetable lasagna, but I forgot to take photos.\u00a0 It was good, though.\u00a0 So, today I thought it would be fun to share my favorite French inspired cookbooks with you.\u00a0 The funny thing is that only one of them is written by a French person, and she lives in California!\u00a0 If you would like cooking tips from a true French chef, you will enjoy<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> <a style=\"color: #ff0000\" Julia Child&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0375413405\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0375413405&amp;linkId=0612fc1a9f2cfca55aa38c126947e67f\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;color: #ff0000\">Mastering the Art of French Cooking.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 This <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0375413405\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0375413405&amp;linkId=0612fc1a9f2cfca55aa38c126947e67f\">book<\/a><\/span> started Ina Garten (the Barefoot Contessa) on the road to her success as a cook.\u00a0 I have enjoyed snippets of Julia over the years.\u00a0 I watched many of her PBS shows, saw her kitchen at the Smithsonian, sat through the delightful <em>Julia and Julie<\/em> four times, read several books about her, and used some of her recipes in my own kitchen.\u00a0 This <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0375413405\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0375413405&amp;linkId=0612fc1a9f2cfca55aa38c126947e67f\">book<\/a><\/span> does not take any short cuts, and it is quite wordy, but it&#8217;s true French cooking.\u00a0 Julia attended cooking school in Paris, and in this book she shares what she learned.<\/p>\n<h2>Ina Garten<\/h2>\n<p>Next up is Ina Garten&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1400049350\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=1400049350&amp;linkId=01c8c015457aa10248288887e1944652\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Barefoot in Paris<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">.<\/span>\u00a0 Clearly, this is a stretch to call it a French cookbook.\u00a0 However, Ina, who is the first to tell you that she is a cook and not a chef, has a Paris apartment and spends a lot of time there.\u00a0 According to Ina, there&#8217;s nothing in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1400049350\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=1400049350&amp;linkId=01c8c015457aa10248288887e1944652\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">this book<\/span><\/a> that you can&#8217;t make in your own kitchen.\u00a0 There are lots of entertaining ideas and recipes that will not only wow your friends and family but convince you how easy it is to cook really delicious French food, even if it&#8217;s not a special occasion.\u00a0 The photos are beautiful, the text is interesting, and the recipes are good.\u00a0 Buy it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1400049350\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=1400049350&amp;linkId=01c8c015457aa10248288887e1944652\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Rachel Khoo<\/h2>\n<p>I first heard about Rachel Khoo when we were in India, of all places.\u00a0 One day I was sick and watched some television in our hotel room.\u00a0 I discovered a food network (not our food network), and they were having a marathon of Rachel Khoo shows.\u00a0 She is a British girl who lived in a tiny apartment in Paris.\u00a0 Her kitchen is\/was about the size of an efficiency kitchen in a hotel room.\u00a0 She actually used a hot plate as her stove and a toaster oven as her oven.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t get much smaller than that.\u00a0 I found her to be delightful and was fascinated by all of the beautiful dishes she created in that tiny Paris kitchen.\u00a0 I googled her that day and discovered she had a cookbook called<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;color: #ff0000\"> The Little Paris Kitchen.<\/span>\u00a0 I ordered it as soon as we returned home.\u00a0 I have made a lot of recipes form it like mussels in white wine (I love mussels), ratatouille, citrus fruit cake, croque madame muffins, and more.\u00a0 Other books she has written are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/145213507X\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=145213507X&amp;linkId=a133f6cc077f07b7ba3d97a0dbfa3ef6\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;text-decoration: underline\">My Little French Kitchen,<\/span><\/a> <\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0718179463\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0718179463&amp;linkId=78d8aac1c0d90a2db2e1da9ca9f60dda\">Rachel Khoo&#8217;s Kitchen Notebook<\/a>, <a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0297868950\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0297868950&amp;linkId=e0d0be0d21c1dfda9e850383ff6e05a2\">Rachel Khoo&#8217;s Sweet and Savoury Pates<\/a><\/span>, and her latest, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0718188918\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0718188918&amp;linkId=7ebd13d28361cc8bf82cbfc13b98cf2c\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;text-decoration: underline\">The Little Swedish Kitchen<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">.<\/span>\u00a0 I guess she has moved.<\/p>\n<h2>Clotilde Dusoulier<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0307984826\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0307984826&amp;linkId=8f41f500d40eedaacca7f03ea624c7a1\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The French Market Cookbook<\/span><\/a> is the only vegetarian book in the group and the only one written by a French chef.\u00a0 Clotilde Dusoulier grew up in Paris but moved to California. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0307984826\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0307984826&amp;linkId=96201b64f907addc761c8d220bca7bc5\">This cookbook<\/a><\/span> is divided into recipes for each season. This chef&#8217;s philosophy is that in order to learn to cook, you should first learn to shop and know how to select the freshest ingredients.\u00a0 She claims that if you are forced to cook with produce grown out of season and trucked across the country (sound familiar???), then the best cooking will not improve its flavor.\u00a0 She, like my French chef, says to cook with the freshest ingredients.\u00a0 We all know that is not always possible, but we can do our best.\u00a0 We are trying to eat mostly vegetable based meals this month, and I am using this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0307984826\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=0307984826&amp;linkId=96201b64f907addc761c8d220bca7bc5\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">cookbook<\/span><\/a> as my reference.<\/p>\n<h2>Angela Reed<\/h2>\n<p>The last of my favorite French cookbooks that I am sharing with you today is <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1519652666\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=1519652666&amp;linkId=d37a3ea49733e6deba3987788b8933b6\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">From France to the Farm<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> <a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1519652666\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=1519652666&amp;linkId=d37a3ea49733e6deba3987788b8933b6\">This cookbook<\/a><\/span> is written by Angela Reed, a Wisconsin mother of six.\u00a0 She&#8217;s far from France, but she is a true Francophile who has a growing following on<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> <a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B7V99urBro2\/\">Instagram<\/a><\/span> and on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=parisienne+farmhouse\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Youtube<\/span><\/a> channel.\u00a0 She also writes a blog.\u00a0 I have made several recipes from her book (maybe you saw me making them when I shared them on our <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/the2seasonsblog\/\">Instastories<\/a><\/span>) and have enjoyed them and the stories she writes.\u00a0 She is currently working on a book about gardening.\u00a0 The transition she has made in her garden in the two summers she has lived in her current home is mind-boggling.\u00a0 Be sure to give <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1519652666\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=1519652666&amp;linkId=074d9df429f57f167842905f8dc9912d\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">this cookbook <\/span><\/a>a try.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-43758\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/French-cookbooks-2-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/French-cookbooks-2-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/French-cookbooks-2-242x323.jpg 242w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/French-cookbooks-2-640x853.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are on the lookout for some new cookbooks, then we hope my favorite French cookbooks gave you some ideas.
