Luckett’s Store is the topic of today’s blog post.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hello, everyone.\u00a0 Welcome to September.\u00a0 Little Miss started Pre-K yesterday and will be going to school five mornings a week.\u00a0 If you follow us on Instagram<\/a>, (please do) then you saw her adorable photo in her cute pink boots.\u00a0 I could just cry when I see how fast these grandchildren are growing.\u00a0 I know that I am not alone in that, but it’s what life is all about.<\/p>\n

When I first started reading blogs years ago, some of the writers talked about going to Luckett’s.<\/a>\u00a0 What was that, I wondered.\u00a0 After a while, I decided to look into it (thanks, Google) and found out it’s a store with antiques and reproductions in Leesburg, VA.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

They have one, maybe two, big sales a year with vendors who specialize in painted furniture, trendy looks like farmhouse, antiques, reproductions, etc.\u00a0 Miss Mustard Seed<\/a> used to be a vendor at those big sales.\u00a0 However, they are opened every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.\u00a0 One day I discovered that Luckett’s store is just 55 miles from where my parents live.\u00a0 Imagine that!!!\u00a0 When I visited my parents a few weeks ago, I took a morning trip to Luckett’s to see what it is all about in person.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

First of all, Luckett’s store is located on a the corner of a four-way stop in the countryside outside of Leesburg.\u00a0 So, it isn’t in the city proper.\u00a0 It is a huge old building with three floors, and each floor is packed practically to the ceiling.\u00a0 Now, don’t get me wrong.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There were definitely organized displays and beautiful items for sale.\u00a0 Some were very reasonably priced, and some were more than I thought they should sell for.\u00a0 There were traditional, mid-century, and contemporary items.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There was furniture, some new and some old that had been updated by paint or upholstery.\u00a0 There were signs, dishes, door knobs, maps, posters, mirrors, books, lighting, candles, old shutters, taxidermy, doors, plants, and more.\u00a0 Some appeared to be sold by the store’s owners, and others appeared to be booths like in an antique mall.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for me, I get overwhelmed when shopping in overcrowded surroundings.\u00a0 There were too many things that I loved, and too many decisions to make.\u00a0 I don’t like making impulse buys, so I stuck with what I knew would work in our home.\u00a0 That means I bought one thing…….a small demijohn to be added to what looks like a collection.\u00a0 I have six now in all sizes.\u00a0 Does that make a collection?<\/p>\n

I am glad that I spent that morning at Luckett’s store.\u00a0 The drive there was absolutely beautiful.\u00a0 Do I recommend it?\u00a0 Yes, but don’t drive across the country to go there.\u00a0 If you are near Leesburg, VA, then it is worth your time to arrange to stop in.<\/p>\n
