Books we’ve read recently that we highly recommend is the topic of today’s blog post.<\/em><\/p>\n

I love getting book suggestions from friends, so we thought we each would share some books we have read recently.\u00a0 As always\u00a0 we would love for you to share anything you have read that you enjoyed.\u00a0 I haven’t been able to read a ton since Google came home, but I thought I would share what I have read, and Mom will share hers.\u00a0 You can click any link to buy the books.<\/p>\n

Something in the Wate<\/a>r by Catherine Stea\"\"dman.<\/p>\n

This was a fun suspense book and once I got started, I didn’t want to put it down.\u00a0 Twists and turns kept me turning the page, but I will say I didn’t love the ending.\u00a0 I wanted there to be more, but I guess it that is the beauty of a book.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The Man in the Rockefeller Suit<\/a> by Mark Seal.<\/p>\n

Wow, I wasn’t familiar with the story of this con man.\u00a0 The whole time I was reading this, I couldn’t believe it was a true story.\u00a0 This book is an older one, but I highly recommend it as a great read.\u00a0 This one makes one realize how gullible and trusting we are as individuals.\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

<\/a>\"\"\u00a0Simple Happy Parenting<\/a> by Denaye Barahona<\/p>\n

When I am doing laundry or cleaning during naptime ,I like to listen to podcast.\u00a0 I have listened to the parenting podcast for Denaye Barahona for a couple of years.\u00a0 She has a variety of guests, and I like her style.\u00a0 She is very big into bringing the simple back into childhood.\u00a0 She encourages getting the children outside, free play etc. She recently came out with a book, and if you do not have time for podcast, the book is a good quick read and has ways for your family to simplify.<\/p>\n

Janette here.\u00a0 I have read some really god books lately and highly, highly recommend most of them.\u00a0 Here we go…..<\/p>\n

Daisy Jones and the Six<\/a> by Taylor JenkinsReid<\/p>\n

I absolutely loved this book because it is written in a very unique way.\u00a0 Daisy Jones and the Six<\/a> is a book about a rock band back in the 1970’s so they are my generation.\u00a0 The novel is like one big interview and gives different band members’ versions of the same event.\u00a0 There’s an interesting twist at the end, and if you enjoy music, then you will like this book.<\/p>\n

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo<\/a> by Taylor Jenkins Read<\/p>\n

I selected this novel because it is by the same author who wrote Daisy Jones and the Six.<\/a>\u00a0 It, too, is written in a different way from most novels.\u00a0 It is the story of a gorgeous, world-famous actress and her life as a movie star.\u00a0 When reading it, I thought about Elizabeth Taylor.\u00a0 I am not finished yet, but every time I sit down, I grab my Kindle and read a few pages.\u00a0 I love this book.<\/p>\n

Where the Crawdads Sing\u00a0<\/a>by Delia Owens<\/p>\n

Jordan read Where the Crawdads Sing<\/a> first and raved about it.\u00a0 So, I decided to read it to find out what all the hype is about.\u00a0 Friends, there’s a reason this book has been on the New York Times number one book for so long.\u00a0 It is a wonderful story and very well written.\u00a0 I read it about a month ago and am still thinking about it.\u00a0 If you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favor and buy it now.<\/p>\n

Small Great Things<\/a> by Jodi Picoult<\/p>\n

Jodi Picoult has written a ton of books, but this is the first one by her that I have read.\u00a0 It was a wonderful book about a black nurse who encounters racism in the work place.\u00a0 Her whole world is rocked by a decision that she had to make in a split second.\u00a0 The book made me aware of the subtle ways prejudice is all around, but many of us don’t notice it.\u00a0 Based on this book, I plan to read some more novels by Jodi Picoult.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Year of Living Danishly<\/a> by Helen Russell<\/p>\n

This nonfiction book is written by a woman from Britain who moved to Denmark with her husband for his job.\u00a0 They moved to the town where Legos are manufactured.\u00a0 Since Denmark is known as the happiest country, I was excited to read about life there and to learn why they are so happy.\u00a0 However, I didn’t like the way Ms. Russell wrote. I felt the book had a snarky tone to it and that she was looking for negatives.\u00a0 The book is divided into the 12 months, and she writes about a different topic each month.\u00a0 I didn’t really enjoy the book and don’t recommend it.<\/p>\n
