{"id":41807,"date":"2019-05-19T17:34:39","date_gmt":"2019-05-19T22:34:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=41807"},"modified":"2019-05-19T17:34:39","modified_gmt":"2019-05-19T22:34:39","slug":"five-house-chores-in-under-30-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=41807","title":{"rendered":"Five House Chores in Under 30 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is a big cleaning day for me.\u00a0 I have been so busy <del>working<\/del> playing outside with our flowers, etc. that the inside hasn&#8217;t gotten the attention it deserves.\u00a0 Even though we are just two people, things can get messy.\u00a0 So, look out house!\u00a0 I&#8217;m coming for you.\u00a0 On cleaning day, I like to devote my complete attention to cleaning.\u00a0 I like to get everything ready so that my time isn&#8217;t spent on side jobs like cleaning out the refrigerator.\u00a0 I like to do those kinds of tasks ahead of time, and that&#8217;s just what I did this weekend.\u00a0 I tackled five house chores in under 30 minutes, and now that those areas are all spiffed up, I won&#8217;t have to deal with them today.\u00a0 I thought that by sharing my small cleaning successes with you, maybe you will get inspired to tackle some areas that need TLC.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what I accomplished.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>The Extra Make-up Drawer<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-40815\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5199-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Lipstick jungle - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5199-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5199-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5199-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5199-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have a make-up drawer that holds just the items that I use on a daily basis.\u00a0 What a time saver it is!\u00a0 When I am doing my make-up, I don&#8217;t have to spend time looking for something.\u00a0 The few items that I use are right there waiting for me.\u00a0 However, my vanity also has a drawer that holds all of the other make-up stuff that I am holding onto for some reason.\u00a0 Some of it is the lipsticks I mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2019\/01\/23\/lipstick-jungle\/\">this post<\/a>.\u00a0 (I did manage to get ride of the mascara I talked about <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2018\/11\/26\/my-favorite-mascara\/\">here<\/a>.)\u00a0 I also have lots of hair picks (why?), make-up sponges, hair clips, etc. in that drawer.\u00a0 Well, in less than 10 minutes, I organized it.\u00a0 I simply added some small clear plastic containers like<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01BKODXMG\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B01BKODXMG&amp;linkId=19da6e769fdbc131f99f14a08c6bbf7f\"> these<\/a> that you can find<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0744NP826\/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=the2sea-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B0744NP826&amp;linkId=82b7d2712033dd607ccaa0fc2716d9d8\"> here<\/a> and put like things together.\u00a0 Now it looks great and is very organized.<\/p>\n<h2>The Shower Door<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41808\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5491-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse bathroom shower - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5491-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5491-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5491-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5491-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although it wasn&#8217;t too bad, I didn&#8217;t want the shower door to get as crusty as the one I wrote about in <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/10\/27\/shower-door-cleaning-tip\/\">this post<\/a>.\u00a0 So, I got out the shampoo, and followed my own advice. I used the shampoo to clean off the built up soap scum, and now it looks brand new.\u00a0 And it took about 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<h2>The Refrigerator<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41144\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5322-e1551047948682-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse kitchen - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5322-e1551047948682-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5322-e1551047948682-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5322-e1551047948682-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5322-e1551047948682-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes when I open the refrigerator doors, I am shocked by what is looking back at me. \u00a0 Especially when I see dried food on the shelves, outdated veggies in the drawers, and frozen items that are never going to be eaten.\u00a0 Well, that&#8217;s been going on here long enough that I knew it was time to tackle it.\u00a0 I filled the sink with hot sudsy water, took everything from the fridge, and got to work.\u00a0 I tossed out the old things, washed down the shelves, and organized the food with like things together.\u00a0 That task did take around 30 minutes, and now the refrigerator is just sparkling, inside and out.<\/p>\n<h2>The Front Door<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41779\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5555-648x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse exterior summer - the 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"1011\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5555-648x1024.jpg 648w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5555-204x323.jpg 204w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5555-768x1214.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5555-300x474.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you want to give everyone a good first impression when they visit your home, be sure your front door area is clean.\u00a0 Get rid of the dust, clean the lights, remove the cobwebs, wash any windows, sweep the sidewalk and porch, and have a fresh door mat.\u00a0 Since this house is nearer to the street than our last place, our front door gets dusty a lot faster.\u00a0 And since we have lots of big old trees, debris is constantly falling from them onto the sidewalks.\u00a0 So, our front door area requires more attention from me.\u00a0 While I was outside watering the new annuals that I planted last week, I used the hose to clean the door, the surround, the sidewalk, and the lights.\u00a0 It looks so much better and more inviting.\u00a0 That task took about 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<h2>The Furniture<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41560\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_5394-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse family room for spring - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_5394-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_5394-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_5394-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_5394-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Vacuuming furniture is one of my least favorite chores, but it has to be done.\u00a0 It is important to keep our upholstered pieces as clean as possible so they last longer.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t have a lot of upholstered furniture, but what we do have is now clean and ready for summer.\u00a0 I simply pulled off the cushions and vacuumed every inch.\u00a0 It took about 25 minutes.\u00a0 Whew!\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad that one is finished.<\/p>\n<p>Now I still have a few under 30 minutes chores on my list:\u00a0 I want to put away the winter coats that are in the mudroom and give it a summertime look; clean the cabinet in our designer garage that holds my gardening supplies, rearrange the mantel for summer, and clean the grill.\u00a0 Hopefully, I can get those task accomplished this week, but not today.
