We are back today with another reveal from our new place, and today it is the breezeway reveal.\u00a0 When we bought our house, the breezeway was open to the courtyard, and it was larger.\u00a0 However, we stole some of the square footage when we added the family room addition<\/a>.\u00a0 We loved the enclosed breezeway in our last house where we used it as our mud room<\/a>.\u00a0 Since we built a mud room\u00a0<\/a> in the addition, the breezeway gets to be an enclosed porch.\u00a0 It will also take place of the sunroom<\/a> in our last place.\u00a0 We will get a lot more use out of this space, though, because it doesn’t get the hot afternoon sun.<\/p>\n

I have to admit that this area took a real beating when we were under construction with the remodel.\u00a0 Since it was next to the two areas that received the biggest transformations, it was used and abused.<\/p>\n

Equipment was stored on it, concrete was smeared on it, paint was dripped on it, and more.\u00a0 It didn’t get much respect.<\/p>\n

Once we added two sets of Andersen sliders, it started to look like something that could actually become attractive.\u00a0 The brick is still stained in spots, and if any of you have any suggestions as to what we can do to this brick floor, we are completely open to your ideas.<\/p>\n

We took it from the bare bones existence that it previously had to a room that we can actually use in all four seasons because we added an HVAC unit in the ceiling that is out of sight..\u00a0 We enclosed the ceiling with bead board painted Iceberg by Sherwin Williams and cleaned up the brick as much as we could. (Note – since this post was written, we have contracted a man to come clean the wall and floor brick even more).<\/p>\n

We walk through the space many times a day going from the house to the garage which houses our cars, our bicycles, and the trash cans.\u00a0 I wanted a rug to define the sitting area, but it needed to be practical.\u00a0 I found a dark Dash and Albert indoor\/outdoor rug here<\/a>, and knew it could do the job.\u00a0 When it gets dirty, we can just hose it down, and it will be look like new again.<\/p>\n

I liked it so much that I bought this runner in the same pattern<\/a> to use in front of the Dutch door.<\/p>\n

I wanted a wicker sofa to replace the antique one that we have used since we were married.\u00a0 It was ancient when I bought it at an auction as a newlywed.\u00a0 It was loaded with charm and personality but just couldn’t handle another move.<\/p>\n

I ordered a chair to go with it, but it was too big, and I ended up selling it.\u00a0 This wicker chair works just fine.<\/p>\n

We are using the trunk from our sun room.\u00a0 It is very handy for pillow storage.<\/p>\n

\"Twonhouse<\/p>\n

The armoire is from our previous mud room.\u00a0 It is also great storage, and the old set of golf clubs were my dad’s first set.<\/p>\n

We will be adding plants as the weather warms up to add the cozy factor to the room.\u00a0 The sliding doors will stay open most summer days with just the screens in place.\u00a0 It will feel like a screened in porch with a nice view of the courtyard.\u00a0 I can’t wait to get my herbs and annuals planted out there to see what it can really look like.\u00a0 We will add plants<\/p>\n
