The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5319-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5319-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5319-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5319-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First of all, I mentioned that we had a raised dishwasher installed at the end of our island so that we do not have to bend over to load and unload it.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t even know this was a feature that was possible until I saw it in our kitchen designer&#8217;s showroom.\u00a0 And the irony is that when I first saw the raised dishwasher, it was when we were living in our former home and when we had no idea we would be moving.\u00a0 Another joy of the raised dishwasher is that it provides another great area for storage.\u00a0 Even though we got rid of a lot of dishes and serving pieces when we moved, I still have some seasonal plates and\u00a0 some depression glass plates (read about them in <a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2015\/05\/11\/setting-the-table-using-depression-glass\/\">this post<\/a>) that I use.\u00a0 The back side of the dishwasher, pictured here,\u00a0 provides a lot of space for those dishes and our extra candles.<\/p>\n<h2>Appliance Garage<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41241\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5376-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse kitchen - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5374-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5374-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5374-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5374-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We wanted the look of marble counter tops without the upkeep.\u00a0 You can read why in<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2018\/04\/04\/no-marble-in-the-new-house\/\"> this post<\/a>.\u00a0 After looking through many samples when we were designing the kitchen, I selected European Alleanza quartz in a honed marble like finish.\u00a0 It is stain, scratch, acid, and impact resistant.\u00a0 A supplier in Louisville, which is about an hour away, carried the product.\u00a0 I drove there and personally selected the two slabs that we would need for our kitchen.\u00a0 To say we love it is an understatement.\u00a0 After living with marble for eight years, it is a joy to cook a meal and not have to worry about stains and etching.<\/p>\n<h2>Back Splash<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41248\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5385-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse kitchen - The 2 seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5385-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5385-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5385-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5385-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We used the same material for the back splash, and it is seam-free.\u00a0 The electrical outlets are mounted under the cabinets so that cuts did not have to be made into the quartz.\u00a0 I like the clean look.\u00a0 Some people have asked why we didn&#8217;t want subway tile on the back splash.\u00a0 I have nothing at all against subway tile,\u00a0 We just wanted a look that was different.<\/p>\n<h2>Bar Stools<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41130\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Kitchen-17-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse kitchen - I selected a navy and white Sunbrella fabric so that it would be resistant to stains and fading.\u00a0 These bar stools are so comfy, and we really enjoy sitting in them.<\/p>\n<h2>Hardware<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41247\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_5382-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse kitchen - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"961\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Kitchen-13-682x1024.jpg 682w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Kitchen-13-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Kitchen-13-768x1153.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Kitchen-13-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also had some questions about the walnut pieces that are part of the counter tops.\u00a0 We thought there would be a lot of quartz and wanted to break up the look somewhat.\u00a0 The wood is dark walnut, and we selected this particular wood so that it would match the floors, which are stained dark walnut, and also because walnut is a hard wood.\u00a0 A local furniture making company that is run by some young men in their thirties made the wood inserts.<\/p>\n<h2>Rustic Beam<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41179\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5340-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Kitchen island - The 2 Seasons\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5340-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5340-215x323.jpg 215w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5340-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5340-300x450.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When we extended the size of the room with the addition of the family room, we had to add a big ole steel support beam.\u00a0 We bought reclaimed wood that came from a New York City skyscraper, and our carpenters used it to cover the steel.\u00a0 Every single person who enters this house compliments the beam.\u00a0 It just adds a nice rustic touch.<\/p>\n<h2>Microwave Drawer<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41217\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_5337-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Townhouse kitchen -
