Hi everyone. Today is an exciting post, and I still can’t believe I am typing this.\u00a0 Let’s just start from the beginning….\u00a0 Yankee and I\u00a0 decided to expand our family in September, 2017 by adopting again from Thailand.\u00a0 Even though this “ain’t” our first rodeo, we had to start from scratch with the paperwork.\u00a0 It wasn’t as daunting because we knew what to expect.\u00a0 Our paperwork was officially\u00a0in Thailand in January, 2018.\u00a0 At that time our adoption agency gave us our number in the line, and we were expected to get matched with a little one this September.\u00a0 We both thought that date was so fast.\u00a0 Not long ago, Yankee and I were talking and decided to be realistic. We expected to most likely be pushed back to the December match group.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

We Have An Adoption Match<\/h2>\n

Fast forward to the end of\u00a0 June when I was sitting at a swim lesson for Little Miss. \u00a0 I had a call coming in from our adoption agency.\u00a0 It was a match month, and I thought, “Oh, they are calling to tell me we have been pushed back to December.”\u00a0 I didn’t answer the call and focused on watching Little Miss practice blowing bubbles in the pool.\u00a0 After swimming, we came home, made lunch, played, and eventually when I put Little Miss down for her nap, I called our agency back.\u00a0 The director said, “You probably know why I am calling, and I said,\u00a0 “Oh, to tell us we have been pushed back to December.”\u00a0 She said that it was a large group of children in that round, and that they had a little boy for us.\u00a0 I think I said, “What?” a few times and did a nervous laugh because I was not expecting this at all.\u00a0 Everything happened so much faster this time, and I was shocked in a good way.\u00a0 Eventually, she was able to proceed and tell us more about our son.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I called Yankee and think he was just as shocked because we were not expecting this at all.\u00a0 The cool thing is when I told Yankee,\u00a0 I said, “You get to share the same birthday as your son.”\u00a0 Ahh… IT\u00a0 just gives me goosebumps to write this because it was such cool way to tell him.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We eventually received his development and health information and some pictures.\u00a0 Due to Thailand’s regulations, we cannot share photos with you until the adoption is finalized in the US and registered with the Thai Embassy.\u00a0 This will be about a year after we return home with him.\u00a0 I can tell you he is just adorable.\u00a0 He has the biggest eyes, and I have even seen a smile in some of the pictures.\u00a0 Little Miss never showed a smile in her pictures so this was a pleasant surprise.\u00a0 He is a little older – 16 months. (Little Miss was 9 months old when we were matched.)<\/p>\n

Now We Wait<\/h2>\n

The next steps are that we wait.\u00a0 We have to wait for first approval from Thailand, and the board only meets twice a month.\u00a0 Basically, our file is in a pile with other parents waiting to adopt, and when we will come up, they will review our case.\u00a0 Once we get our first approval, we know we that about three months later we will travel to Thailand to bring him home.\u00a0\u00a0 The time from first approval to travel goes quickly. It seems to be the fastest part in the whole process.\u00a0 Our agency says it could be around a year from now till we travel and bring our little one home.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We are so so excited to complete our family and all be together.\u00a0 At this point Little Miss doesn’t know she is a big sister.\u00a0 We still have a long time till we travel, and in a her eyes, it will seem like an eternity.\u00a0 We will tell her once we get closer to the travel date.\u00a0 We want to have time to prepare her and answer questions, but we don’t want to start those questions quite yet.\u00a0 We want to focus on her and her continued growth.\u00a0 We have talked about friends who have siblings, and she has asked for one so we know it will be an exciting day for her.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

When we do travel, we will all go as a family and even go back to visit her foster mother, “Ya”.\u00a0 I continue to write her and send her pictures.\u00a0 She knows we are adopting again, and we will be visiting in the future.<\/p>\n
