Who doesn’t love a good bargain and especially at an auction? \u00a0Last week I noticed a blue and white platter in an ad for an upcoming local auction. \u00a0I immediately thought it would go for $300 and no less. \u00a0Even though I assumed it was out of my range, I decided to drop by the auction to have a look.<\/h3>\n

I sat through an hour’s worth of war mementos, and then they started selling the dishes. \u00a0Early on they sold a beautiful black and white French transferware platter for only $45.00. \u00a0I was shocked and hopeful.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When the blue and white platter was on the auction block, only a few of us were bidding, and I won it for only $42.00!!<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It is really large and luscious. \u00a0It is American-made, rather than English and is in the Blue Willow pattern. \u00a0I am sure that it would have brought more if the manufacturer had been a fine English company. \u00a0However, it has been loveingly used and has a great patina. \u00a0The back simply has the number 11 stamped into it. \u00a0If anyone has knowledge of what the number is for, \u00a0please let me know.<\/h3>\n

I bought a plate hanger large enough to hold it, and asked our handyman to hang it up here…<\/h3>\n

above the stove.<\/h3>\n

Doesn’t it look great?<\/h3>\n

It’s the perfect size for the stove hood. \u00a0It’s not too big nor is it too small. \u00a0I am really pleased with the way it looks.<\/h3>\n
