Ever since we bought our new place, I have been having a debate with myself on the color of the front door.\u00a0 Since navy blue is my favorite color, and it will be sprinkled throughout the house, it is a contender.\u00a0 However, dark gray is also in the running, and I don’t know why other than I think it would like nice with the color of the brick.\u00a0 Surprisingly, the historic commission doesn’t care what color I paint the front door.\u00a0 It could be pink with purple polka dots, or black and white zebra stripes, and they don’t care.\u00a0 The neighbors might care, but the historic commission doesn’t.\u00a0 Go figure.<\/p>\n

So, anyway, I did\u00a0 some looking on the world wide web and found a few examples of each color to show you. I should add that we are keeping the original front door and original front door hardware which is a tarnished brass.\u00a0 It is the only thing original item we are using other than the brick.\u00a0 Everything else is new, but we felt this is a good way to give a nod to the past. The hardware was originally polished brass by Baldwin, and the lock man said it is a very good and expensive set.\u00a0 We are having it cleaned but not polished.\u00a0 I would love for y’all to chime in with your opinion on the door color.\u00a0 And while you are at it, should I paint the inside of the front door the same color as the front?\u00a0 And will both colors look okay with a black banister on the stairs?\u00a0 And as an aside, I don’t know how everyone finds such could example photos.\u00a0\u00a0 Finding the right ones is always a challenge for me.<\/p>\n
